It is a matter of regret that our John Elliot cannot be traced with certainty beyond the settlement of Boscawen, New Hampshire, in 1734. Even if we accept the strong circumstantial evidence that he was the John Elliot, son of Francis, baptized at Durham, New Hampshire, December 21, 1722, we are but thrown back to another blank wall, for no investigation has been able to determine who or whence was this Francis.
