WARNING: THIS BOOK IS THE CLEAN/SWEET EDITION AND CONTAINS NO EROTIC CONTENT. IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR THE SPICY EDITION, IT IS AVAILABLE HERE: http: //www.amazon.com/dp/B00E0CFO0K/ *** Blurb: For as long as Claudia Bell could remember, she'd known that there was something very wrong with our world. There were too many inconsistencies - the facts just didn't add up. As a young law graduate, she saw her new job at Cornelius Pharmaceuticals not just as an opportunity to develop her career, but also as a means to find the truth. Driven by a need to discover more about the shadowy, undying Immortelle and the truth about her own family, she crosses the Tasman and takes a step into the unknown. What she finds is not what she expected. Thrown into a world of danger and intrigue, she discovers that the very people she is trying to unmask have their own designs on her. The fact that she even knows about their existence puts her life in danger - but could she live with herself if she left the truth hidden forever? But then she meets Luke Cavenelli, the youngest member of the immortal Cabal. Although he's almost a century old, Luke is kind, debonair, sensual and devastatingly handsome. When she pushes him hard enough, he breaks and gives her the information she craves... and much more. *** The World of the Immortelle Earth seems like such a simple place in the modern age. Science has explained away the mysteries of the universe. There are no surprises. Most people laugh off the idea of secret societies and conspiracy theories as the work of fools and madmen. The problem is, the madmen are right. The world is secretly ruled a select group of violent and ruthless immortals that call themselves the Immortelle. These men and women were mortal once, until a mysterious elixir unlocked the greatest potential hidden within their own genetic codes. The exact nature of that power is determined by their own biological origins, but they are ancient, powerful and bow to no mortal. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, but in the world of the Immortelle nothing is ever as black or white as it seems. *** Q. What is the difference between Sweet Edition and Spicy Edition? A. SPICY EDITION is the original copy of the story, which contains erotic content. SWEET EDITION has had the erotic content removed, making it suitable for readers that prefer a "clean" or "sweet" read. Q. Do I need to buy both editions to get the complete story? A. No, definitely not! The only difference between the two editions is the erotic content. If important dialogue happens to take place during an sex scene, that dialogue will have been tweaked to be kept intact in Sweet Edition. Story-wise, you won't be missing anything by getting Sweet Edition instead of Spicy. Q. Why have two editions? A. Someone asked for it, and I liked the idea. I think of Sweet Edition as being like a translation for my more demure readers.

"The following work is the substance of various speculations, that occasionally amused the author, and enlivened his leisure-hours. It is not intended for the learned; they are above it: nor for the vulgar; they are below it. It is intended for men, who, equally removed from the corruption of opulence, and from the depression of bodily labour, are bent on useful knowledge; who, even in the delirium of youth, feel the dawn of patriotism, and who in riper years enjoy its meridian warmth. To such men this work is dedicated; and that they may profit by it, is the author's ardent wish, and probably will be while any spirit remains in him to form a wish"--Preface. English is the language of science today. No matter which languages you know, if you want your work seen, studied, and cited, you need to publish in English. But that hasn’t always been the case. Though there was a time when Latin dominated the field, for centuries science has been a polyglot enterprise, conducted in a number of languages whose importance waxed and waned over time—until the rise of English in the twentieth century. So how did we get from there to here? How did French, German, Latin, Russian, and even Esperanto give way to English? And what can we reconstruct of the experience of doing science in the polyglot past? With Scientific Babel, Michael D. Gordin resurrects that lost world, in part through an ingenious mechanism: the pages of his highly readable narrative account teem with footnotes—not offering background information, but presenting quoted material in its original language. The result is stunning: as we read about the rise and fall of languages, driven by politics, war, economics, and institutions, we actually see it happen in the ever-changing web of multilingual examples. The history of science, and of English as its dominant language, comes to life, and brings with it a new understanding not only of the frictions generated by a scientific community that spoke in many often mutually unintelligible voices, but also of the possibilities of the polyglot, and the losses that the dominance of English entails. Few historians of science write as well as Gordin, and Scientific Babel reveals his incredible command of the literature, language, and intellectual essence of science past and present. No reader who takes this linguistic journey with him will be disappointed.

Elizabeth DeLoughrey invokes the cyclical model of the continual movement and rhythm of the ocean (‘tidalectics’) to destabilize the national, ethnic, and even regional frameworks that have been the mainstays of literary study. The result is a privileging of alter/native epistemologies whereby island cultures are positioned where they should have been all along—at the forefront of the world historical process of transoceanic migration and landfall. The research, determination, and intellectual dexterity that infuse this nuanced and meticulous reading of Pacific and Caribbean literature invigorate and deepen our interest in and appreciation of island literature. —Vilsoni Hereniko, University of Hawai‘i "Elizabeth DeLoughrey brings contemporary hybridity, diaspora, and globalization theory to bear on ideas of indigeneity to show the complexities of ‘native’ identities and rights and their grounded opposition as ‘indigenous regionalism’ to free-floating globalized cosmopolitanism. Her models are instructive for all postcolonial readers in an age of transnational migrations." —Paul Sharrad, University of Wollongong, Australia Routes and Roots is the first comparative study of Caribbean and Pacific Island literatures and the first work to bring indigenous and diaspora literary studies together in a sustained dialogue. Taking the "tidalectic" between land and sea as a dynamic starting point, Elizabeth DeLoughrey foregrounds geography and history in her exploration of how island writers inscribe the complex relation between routes and roots. The first section looks at the sea as history in literatures of the Atlantic middle passage and Pacific Island voyaging, theorizing the transoceanic imaginary. The second section turns to the land to examine indigenous epistemologies in nation-building literatures. Both sections are particularly attentive to the ways in which the metaphors of routes and roots are gendered, exploring how masculine travelers are naturalized through their voyages across feminized lands and seas. This methodology of charting transoceanic migration and landfall helps elucidate how theories and people travel, positioning island cultures in the world historical process. In fact, DeLoughrey demonstrates how these tropical island cultures helped constitute the very metropoles that deemed them peripheral to modernity. Fresh in its ideas, original in its approach, Routes and Roots engages broadly with history, anthropology, and feminist, postcolonial, Caribbean, and Pacific literary and cultural studies. It productively traverses diaspora and indigenous studies in a way that will facilitate broader discussion between these often segregated disciplines.
