Samuel Hotchkiss was one son of John Hotchkiss and Margaret Newett, of Dodington, England. Samuel left England and came with the Davenport Colony to New Haven, Connecticut, in 1638. Some of Samuel's siblings immigrated also. Samuel married Elizabeth Cleverly in 1642. Their children were John, Samuel, James, Sarah, Joshua, Thomas and Daniel.
