First published in 1897, "The History of Reynard the Fox" is a collection of poems by Frederick Startridge Ellis. The poems concern Reynard, an anthropomorphic red fox and trickster who is traditionally the main character in a literary cycle of allegorical Dutch, English, French and German fables. Frederick Startridge Ellis (1830-1901) was an English bookseller and author.
