DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe principal objective of the Birds in the Boreal Forest workshop was to foster interaction between those concerned with sustaining forests as an industrial resource and those interested in sustaining forests as a habitat for birds and other wildlife. A total of 25 presentations were given in 5 topical sessions: overviews of biodiversity and boreal ecology; state of knowledge of impacts of forest management on birds in the boreal forest; landscape issues - scaling up' from the stand to the ecosystem; foresters' perspectives on integrated resource management: where are we headed?; and databases and information networks: what do have and what do we need? Eighty six participants attended the workshop. The workshop launches a new research program on forest bird ecology in western and northern Canada.
