Das altagyptische Totenbuch mit seinen etwa 200 Spruchen und dazugehorigen Illustrationen in immer neuen Zusammenstellungen auf verschiedenen Materialien (Papyri, Mumienbinden, Leichentucher, Sarge, Grabwande u.a.) stellt eine der bedeutendsten Quellen zur religiosen Literatur und Ikonographie des Alten Agypten dar.
