This book is a work of fiction, it is the true story of my life beginning from the age of five at convent boarding school to the present day. In between, it tells of love and death and suicide, murder, addiction, and catastrophic breakdown. But mostly it tells of love and isolation. The story takes place in a small fishing village in Cornwall, where I spent most of my life. It is the story of Rachel Fairchild and her two children. Four years after her husband, Bens death from cancer, she meets and falls in love with David, a Catholic priest. This love story then becomes a glorious and brutal obsession that bears witness to the complete disintegration of her mind and takes her to the edge of madness. Everything in this life has a polar opposite, from good to bad, evil and redemption. This book explores these opposites and applies them throughout the narrative. It contains passages regarding abstract thoughts and ideas, and of animals and birds that continually speak to Rachel and warn her of her downfall. These passages are intended to convey a sense that Rachel is pursues by her demons from the start. They are playful and enigmatic, but also dark and spiteful, a kind of childhood/adult magic.

Better Together FDR and Eleanor. Mick and Keith. Jobs and Woz. There are countless examples of introvert-extrovert partnerships who make brilliant products, create great works of art, and even change history together. But these partnerships don't just happen. They demand wise nurturing. The key, says bestselling author Jennifer Kahnweiler, is for opposites to stop emphasizing their differences and use approaches that focus them both on moving toward results. Kahnweiler's first-of-its-kind practical five-step process helps introverts and extroverts understand and appreciate each other's wiring, use conflicts to spur creativity, enrich their own skills by learning from the other, and see and act on things neither would have separately. Kahnweiler shows how to perform the delicate balancing act required to create a whole that is exponentially greater than the sum of its parts.

“I’m sorry if I’m such a pain,” Mr. Sidney said as I adjusted his pillows with a sigh. “Oh! It’s not you, I promise,” Janet exclaimed. “I just have some things on my mind.” “They don’t seem to be happy things,” Mr. Sidney noted with a wheeze. “Is it all this taking care of dying folks that has you upset? Or is it something else? I have a hard time talking, but I can be a great listener if you want to talk about it?” Janet smiled. Mr. Sidney had always been one of the kindest men she cared for in the old age home where she worked. It was hard to believe that this weathered whisper of a man used to be a great muscled boxer in his day. He often spoke of how he was going to get back all those muscles when he got to heaven. He believed your spirit would look like your body did when you were in your prime! “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you,” Janet exclaimed with a sigh. "Ah, this one was going to be easy," Martin thought to himself. "A single woman living alone." He had haunted families, bachelors, and old maids before. None of them lasted more than a week. He had his favorites, of course. There was the young lad whose family refused to believe he had seen a ghost! They kept hollering at him and insisting there was no such thing when he was right there behind them the whole time, plain as day! When they finally turned around, their jaws dropped. All he had to do was utter a simple "Boo" and they ran screaming in terror from the house. They even left all their things behind. Not that he had any use for them, but it was a nice gesture, he thought. Gave him something else to throw at people who moved in. He didn't like throwing his own things. After all, they were his prized possessions. He had had them in the house when he lived there. And he still lived there, just not in an earthly form. Find out what happens to the new owner of this haunted house in this short by creepy tale. Ages 9 and up. Educational Versions have exercises designed to meet Common Core standards. The trouble with Harrowby Hall was that it was haunted. What was worse, the ghost did not merely appear at the bedside of the person who saw it, but insisted on staying there for one hour before it would disappear. There she would stand until everything about her was thoroughly drenched. It never appeared except on Christmas Eve, and then only as the clock was striking twelve. The owners of Harrowby Hall had done their best to rid themselves of the damp and dewy lady, but she still rose up out of the best bedroom floor at midnight. They had tried stopping the clock, so the ghost would not know when it was midnight; but she made her appearance just the same. Find out how the heirs of Harrowby Hall attempt to outwit the water ghost, and what happens when they do! Ages 9 and up. Educational Versions have exercises designed to meet Common Core standards.
