The story centers around Sammy B; a young family turtle looking for adventure around Mary Lee Pond. Spring has come early. The ice is melting and the annual ice show on Mary Lee Pond is in an upheaval. Sammy B is hoping they will tell him interesting stories. Everyone is too busy to chat with Sammy B, some only offering him short previews of adventures. Then Mema Turtle gives Sammy B, an important assignment that leads Sammy B to Professor Owl and the adventure begins. The story also includes a message of safety and a lesson of love.
