DOWNLOAD EBOOKExcerpt from The Administration of Village and Consolidated Schools Practically everything that has been written on school administration has been written with the city system in mind. While much of this literature apples in a general way to the village school, much of it does not; and what does apply has to be translated, so to speak. This book has been written to meet the needs of principals of small schools. It is intended also as a textbook for use in normal schools and colleges where young men and women are being trained for the administration of village schools. Two considerations have constantly been held in mind in the preparation of this text: first, the progress which is likely to occur in education in the near future, and to which the village principal must adapt himself; secondly, the technique of administering schools as they actually are. The aim, in other words, is to help the principal to be both practical and progressive. The authors wish to express gratitude to their colleagues and professional friends, too numerous to mention here by name, who have assisted them in the preparation of these chapters. DOWNLOAD EBOOKExcerpt from The Gary Public Schools: Organization and Administration In the last few years both laymen and professional educators have engaged in a lively controversy as to the merits and defects, advantages and disadvantages of what has come to be called the Gary idea or the Gary plan. The rapidly increasing literature bearing on the subject is, however, deficient in details and too often partisan in tone. The present study was undertaken by the General Education Board at the request of the Gary school authorities for the purpose of presenting an accurate and comprehensive account of the Gary schools in their significant aspects. DOWNLOAD EBOOKExcerpt from Organization and Administration of Part-Time Schools I wish that I might express in some more adequate way to the hundreds of teachers who will aid in the development of this new type of school my faith in what I am sure they will accomplish for the betterment of the coming generations. I wish to thank especially the city and village superintendents whose practical advice and whose cordial cooperation with Mr Wilson in planning for the organization of these schools, have not only given new proof of their intelligent zeal in behalf of the children of the State but have also made possible the initiation of this work with their unanimous approval and support. And above all I wish to make acknowledgment of the efficient, indefatigable, sacrificing labor of Mr Wilson in this cause. DOWNLOAD EBOOKExcerpt from Our Schools: Their Administration and Supervision The book has been prepared for the school and for the pri vate library, for teachers' reading circles, and as a text for class use in colleges and normal schools. Without presenting the ideal, it is meant to present standards by which the schools of a community may fairly be judged. The various matters set truth in the Appendix are meant to be suggestive and helpful, rather than prescriptive.
