"Ahh! You're a blockhead!"Jack, Kate, their parents, and pet cat Bruce Lee the Scar-Faced Ninja Attack Kitty From Japan (Who Smells Like Poop), went to bed one night like normal. But when they woke up, everything was NOT normal. They had been pulled into the kid's favorite video game: Minecraft! Mom and Dad didn't know anything about this strange new world that they had to learn to survive in. Luckily, Kate and Jack did. Here, the kids were teaching the parents! Follow the family in their hilarious adventure as they live and learn and survive in Minecraft. They have to explore, craft, mine, make food, defend against monsters, and protect Bruce the cat from himself, who keeps trying to gobble everything up! ***We are a mom and dad to five kids, who wrote these Minecraft books as a way to engage kids who have a hard time finding books they enjoy reading. Our son hated reading. He was good at it and did not struggle, but it was a chore. He didn't get any pleasure from the books, no feelings from the stories. Nothing we could find resonated with him. He would read for his twenty minutes a day then slam the book shut to do something- anything- else.Until he found Steve the Noob, Dave the Villager, and Diary of a Surfer Villager. He couldn't read them fast enough. He would burn through a book in a couple hours and beg for the next. He'd snuggle up in his bed and read all day. We'd have to force him to turn off his light at night and actually get some sleep. It was all he'd talk about around the dinner table. He constantly retold the story, relayed the jokes he couldn't stop laughing about. He would finish one series and start another. Then another. And another. And from those books, his love of reading was born.We hope our books can do the same for other kids who are struggling to find something they love to read.***The Accidental Minecraft Family books were written for kids age 7+ who love to laugh and love Minecraft! These easy to read Minecraft books are great for kids ages 5-7, 6-8, 8-10, and 9-12! How a popular entertainment genre on YouTube—Let's Play videos created by Minecraft players—offers opportunities for children to learn from their peers. Every day millions of children around the world watch video gameplay on YouTube in the form of a popular entertainment genre known as Let's Play videos. These videos, which present a player's gameplay and commentary, offer children opportunities for interaction and learning not available in traditional television viewing or solo video gameplay. In this book, Michael Dezuanni examines why Let's Play videos are so appealing to children, looking in particular at videos of Minecraft gameplay. He finds that a significant aspect of the popularity of these videos is the opportunity for knowledge and skill exchange. Focusing on Let's Play practices, the videos themselves, and fans' responses, Dezuanni argues that learning takes place through what he terms peer pedagogy—a type of nonhierarchical learning that is grounded in the personal relationships fans and players feel toward one another. Moreover, the Let's Play platform is part of a larger digital ecosystem that enables children to learn from one another in unique ways. Dezuanni explores how Let's Players enable learning opportunities, examining digital literacies, the Let's Play genre, and peer pedagogies. He then presents case studies of three successful family-friendly Let's Players of Minecraft: Stampylonghead, StacyPlays, and KarinaOMG, microcelebrities in a microindustry. Dezuanni analyzes the specific practices and characteristics of these players, paying particular attention to how they create opportunities for peer pedagogies to emerge.

“Be quiet and listen: He is cheating on you. The name of your soulmate is Alistair George Arthur Lennox. You will be passed over for the promotion. The winning numbers are 5-8-12-24-39-43. And I’m very sorry to tell you this, but you will die next Sunday.” When Lilah Goodluck saves the life of Good Witch Willow as they’re crossing a busy L.A. street, the last thing she expects is five unwanted predictions as a reward. Who gives someone the winning lotto numbers then tells them they’ve only got a week to live? And who believes in that nonsense anyway? But when the first three predictions come true within twenty-four hours, Lilah’s disbelief turns to mild panic. She’s further horrified when she nearly runs a car off the road that belongs to Alistair Lennox, who just happens to be the illegitimate son of the British king. While Alistair is intrigued by her preposterous story, Lilah is adamant about resisting the heat between her and the playboy prince. If she denies he’s her soulmate, then the last prediction can’t come true, right? As the days count down, they become maybe friends…and then maybe more. But between the relentless paparazzi and some disapproving royals, finding time for love isn’t easy, especially when her days may be numbered. Red White and Royal Blue meets The Last Holiday in this delightfully quirky novel from the New York Times bestselling author of End of Story, about a woman who unexpectedly finds "fall in love with a prince" at the top of her bucket list.

Life improves under the economic system often called "entrepreneurial capitalism" or "creative destruction," but more accurately called "innovative dynamism." Openness to Creative Destruction: Sustaining Innovative Dynamism shows how innovation occurs through the efforts of inventors and innovative entrepreneurs, how workers on balance benefit, and how good policies can encourage innovation. The inventors and innovative entrepreneurs are often cognitively diverse outsiders with the courage and perseverance to see and pursue serendipitous discoveries or slow hunches. Arthur M. Diamond, Jr. shows how economies grow where innovative dynamism through leapfrog competition flourishes, as in the United States from roughly 1830-1930. Consumers vote with their feet for innovative new goods and for process innovations that reduce prices, benefiting ordinary citizens more than the privileged elites. Diamond highlights that because breakthrough inventions are costly and difficult, patents can be fair rewards for invention and can provide funding to enable future inventions. He argues that some fears about adverse effects on labor market are unjustified, since more and better new jobs are created than are destroyed, and that other fears can be mitigated by better policies. The steady growth in regulations, often defended on the basis of the precautionary principle, increases the costs to potential entrepreneurs and thus reduces innovation. The "Great Fact" of economic history is that after at least 40,000 years of mostly "poor, nasty, brutish, and short" humans in the last 250 years have started to live substantially longer and better lives. Diamond increases understanding of why.
