The order in which each entry is set forth is as follows: name of deceased, age, sex, race, free or slave (1850 & 1860 schedules only), marital status, place of birth of deceased, place of birth of deceased's parents (1880 schedules only), occupation (usually omitted by enumerator), month of death, cause of death, county and census year. Note that each census year was the year ended June 1, so the only deaths recorded on these schedules were those occurring in the twelve month periods ended June 1 of 1850, 1860, and 1880.
