This book looks at several troop categories based on primary function and analyzes the ratio between these categories to develop a general historical ratio. This ratio is called the Tooth-to-Tail Ratio. McGrath's study finds that this ratio, among types of deployed US forces, has steadily declined since World War II, just as the nature of warfare itself has changed. At the same time, the percentage of deployed forces devoted to logistics functions and to base and life support functions have increased, especially with the advent of the large-scale of use of civilian contractors. This work provides a unique analysis of the size and composition of military forces as found in historical patterns. Extensively illustrated with charts, diagrams, and tables. Is military-support more than little, yellow magnetic ribbons, slapped-on the backs of our vehicles? More than prayers, care-packages, tissues, and casseroles? Does the Church play a vital role? As a matter of fact, yes--on all counts! If you love God, freedom, our country, and our troops--and you really want to get involved--then, this book is for you! It... - Identifies key issues, sectors, and the necessity for believer-patriots' active roles; - Relays testimonies and realities of military-life cycles; - Briefly educates on military-terminology and systems; - Equips with a practical, tested, biblically-based mobilization plan; - Divulges helpful, leadership field notes. Military-support is exactly where saints need dare to tread; we are needed in every facet, on every stage--on both the warfront and the homefront. This affects military-readiness, national-defense, and national security. Because, really--"Military-support: It's MORE than a bumper-sticker! Colorado native, Heidi Bulla, grew-up, serving in church ministry with her family. While studying for and receiving a B.A. from a liberal arts college in Florida, God moved Heidi's family to the sunny South. While there, God captured her heart for our U.S. Military, justice, law, and politics! Stoking love and passion for our troops, God led her to write, lead, and build a military ministry at her local church. She served intensively, as a lay-leader, while simultaneously working fulltime in the medical field. Heidi enjoys playing the piano, painting western mountainscapes, and making caramels at Christmas!
