DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis book merges two major areas of control: the design of control systems and adaptive control. Original contributions are made in the polynomial approach to stochastic optimal control and the resulting control laws are then manipulated into a form suitable for application in the self-tuning control framework. A major contribution is the derivation of both scalar and multivariable optimal controllers for the rejection of measurable disturbances using feedforward. A powerful feature of the book is the presentation of a case-study in which the LQG self-tuner was tested on the pressure control loop of a power station. The broad coverage of the book should appeal not only to research workers, teachers and students of control engineering, but also to practicing industrial control engineers.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis book aims to demonstrate the power and breadth of polynomial methods in control and filtering. Direct polynomial methods have previously received little attention compared with the alternative Wiener-Hopf transfer-function method and the statespace methods which rely on Riccati equations. The book provides a broad coverage of the polynomial equation approach in a range of linear control and filtering problems. The principal feature of the approach is the description of systems in fractional form using transfer functions. This representation leads quite naturally and directly to the parameterisation of all 'acceptable' feedback controllers for a given problem in the form of a Diophantine equation over polynomials. In the polynomial equation approach, this direct parameterisation is explicitly carried through to the synthesis of controllers and filters and, further, to the computer implementation of numerical algorithms. The book is likely to be of interest to students, researchers and engineers with some control and systems theory or signal processing background. It could be used as the basis of a graduate-level course in optimal control and filtering. The book proceeds from the necessary background material presented at a tutorial level, through recent theoretical and practical developments, to a detailed presentation of numerical algorithms.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKimpossible to access. It has been widely scattered in papers, reports, and proceedings ofsymposia, with different authors employing different symbols and terms. But now thereis a book that covers all aspects of this dynamic topic in a systematic manner.Featuring consistent terminology and compatible notation, and emphasizing unifiedstrategies, Adaptive Control Systems provides a comprehensive, integrated accountof basic concepts, analytical tools, algorithms, and a wide variety of application trendsand techniques.Adaptive Control Systems deals not only with the two principal approachesmodelreference adaptive control and self-tuning regulators-but also considers otheradaptive strategies involving variable structure systems, reduced order schemes, predictivecontrol, fuzzy logic, and more. In addition, it highlights a large number of practical applicationsin a range of fields from electrical to biomedical and aerospace engineering ...and includes coverage of industrial robots. The book identifies current trends in the development of adaptive control systems ...delineates areas for further research . : . and provides an invaluable bibliography of over1,200 references to the literature. The first authoritative reference in this important area of work, Adaptive ControlSystems is an essential information source for electrical and electronics, R&D,chemical, mechanical, aerospace, biomedical, metallurgical, marine, transportation, andpower plant engineers. It is also useful as a text in professional society seminars and inhousetraining programs for personnel involved with the control of complex systems, andfor graduate students engaged in the study of adaptive control systems.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe Symposium covered three major areas: adaptive control, identification and signal processing. In all three, new developments were discussed covering both theoretical and applications research. Within the subject area of adaptive control the discussion centred around the challenges of robust control design to unmodelled dynamics, robust parameter estimation and enhanced performance from the estimator, while the papers on identification took the theme of it being a bridge between adaptive control and signal processing. The final area looked at two aspects of signal processing: recursive estimation and adaptive filters.
