The author of this book has been travelling to Tanzania as a missionary since 1991. During that period he has been asked many Bible based and faith centred questions, some of which are repeatedly asked. It is thought that the answers to these repeated questions may be usefully contained in a pocket sized booklet for others to keep with them at all times so that they might give a 'ready answer' to those that ask. For this reason this booklet has been written as a compilation of answers to those often asked questions. This is not another attempt to answer all the questions of religious leaders, for that; see Wrested Scriptures by Ron Abel. This small booklet is aimed at answering the questions of the common man. The materials found here are intended for the Ecclesias of Tanzania; however, the principles are universal and therefore are transferrable to any culture.
"Final questions" is a term used by the Australian philosopher Karl R. Popper, which indicates a field of philosophy in which Popper would esteem scientific proof impossible. The field is also called metaphysics. In this book Thea and Bruno discuss the problems of God's existence, eternal love and spirit, life after death, good and evil, evolution and creation. They do it in their modified Socratic midwifery method. The reader can follow the birth of thought as it emerges in a mixture of logical discipline and spontaneous reaction. He can pause and pursue his own promptings. He is not confrontes with ready-made results, but involved in a discourse that ist open-endet and comprehensible.
Everyone has questions. Young children ask “why?” Teenagers ask “why not?” Adults sometimes lament “what if?” The God who created us and who loves us has given us the answers to life’s most pressing questions in His Word. Yet many people have no idea that God has the answers and has made them available in the Bible. Whether it is a question about where we will spend eternity or how to deal with the pain of a broken relationship, you can be sure it has been asked and answered already on www.GotQuestions.org, the source for this book. Sadly, many individuals and ministries who offer advice are not biblically and theologically solid. That’s why Got Questions? is crucially needed—a resource that answers questions explicitly from a biblical perspective, with solid evangelical theology. Written in an easy-to-understand format and organized in easy-to-follow sections, Got Questions? will help readers find the answers to the most frequently asked questions regarding spiritual matters. The questions were asked by real people struggling through real-life issues who received solid, practical answers from the Bible. The articles in this volume are compiled from the more than 3,800 frequently-asked questions on our website, which are read over 7 million times each month. Some of the articles have been translated into 150 languages. Many books present teaching in a question-and-answer format, but few have delved into the questions that people are actually asking. Having received and answered more than 380,000 questions, Got Questions Ministries has a unique understanding of what questions are truly on people’s minds.
Raised in a militant atheist family, Sy Garte fell in love with the factual world of science. He became a respected research biochemist with an anti-theistic worldview to bolster his work—and he had no intention of seeking a God he didn't believe in. That is, until the very science he loved led him to question the validity of an atheistic worldview. His journey to answer the questions that confronted him drew him into becoming a fully committed Christian, determined to show others the truth: modern science doesn't contradict God at all but instead supports Christianity. In the first half of the book, Sy begins with how his experiences and quest for knowledge as a student and early in his career brought him to question his materialist assumptions. He goes on to reveal how lessons from physics, biology, and human nature —all presented for lay readers to easily understand—actually argue for belief in God. In the second half of the book, Sy looks at the arguments often presented against God in academic and scientific settings and explains the false foundations on which they rest. For those who have been told that the realities of science call for a rejection of God—but can't quite get rid of the feeling that this shouldn't be true—The Works of His Hands is an ideal reminder that the two don't have to be bitter enemies. Instead, this transformative book shares the beauty of the marriage between science and faith—and how, together, they can bring even the most unlikely to salvation.
Essential reading for scholars, poetry lovers, and anyone with an interest in Rainer Maria Rilke, German poetry, or the creative impulse, these ten letters of correspondence between Rilke and a young aspiring poet reveal elements from the inner workings of his own poetic identity. The letters coincided with an important stage of his artistic development and readers can trace many of the themes that later emerge in his best works to these messages—Rilke himself stated these letters contained part of his creative genius.
In this book, The Reverend Doctor J. Billy Beaufils, Pastor, former President of the Mission Théophile in Christ Inc., Current President of the Association of Haitian Evangelical Pastors of Georgia, Veteran in radio broadcasting for 26 years, with a determination, and an extraordinary courage like that of Jeremiah does not stop teaching and exposing the Word of God to the Haitian communities throughout the United States of America, and Haiti. He has just offered us this brilliant and vigorous work which I call an encyclopedia which all Bible teachers should have a copy for reference in their archives. This book is a gift that Dr. Beaufils my friend, my brother, my colleague made for the Haitian and Haitian-American communities, but especially to humanity in general. Let's face it, Dr. Beaufils has shown unfailing honesty in his work by denouncing and exposing the lies of the gods of this century conveyed by false disguised ministers whom our Lord Jesus Christ calls ravening wolves. We know that man is a tragic actor placed in a totally absurd environment where it is impossible for him to satisfy his rational aspirations that some call "The Theater of the Absurd". So, Dr. Beaufils invites us to leave this land of absurdity and encourages us to embark with him on the true path, the path of reality, the path of truth that will lead us to a blessed and happy eternity. Are you ready to take this beautiful and great trip with Dr. Beaufils? Rev. Duvard, Francois, Pastor/Writer, BPA, MAR.
Every person in the world has felt the influence of the Holy Spirit at one time or another. For some, its the conviction of sin and righteousness and judgment (John 16:8). For others, its the comfort, guidance, and strength He gives. To some, the Spirit is as mysterious and unknowable as a night wind passing through the treetops. To others, He is as close and inviting as a friend across the table. But even those who know the Holy Spirit personally have questions about Him. As Oswald Chambers said, The Spirit is the first power we practically experience, but the last power we come to understand. Thats the reason for this book. What gifts does the Spirit give? How can I be filled with the Spirit? Will the Spirit ever leave me? Weve received all these questions and more since GotQuestions.org was founded in 2002. To find the answers, we opened the Bible, the one book inspired by the Holy Spirit Himself. In searching the Scriptures, we learn of the Spirits nature, His work, and His will. May the Holy Spirit use the questions and answers in this volume to increase your awareness of His presence, encourage your heart, and empower your faith.
