DOWNLOAD EBOOKA Brookings Institution Press and the Organization of American States publication This is the Spanish language version of Toward Free Trade in America. In the past 15 years, the nations of the Western Hemisphere have staged a remarkable revolution—in the way they trade with their neighbors. First, after decades of restrictive import policies, several countries began to liberalize their trade and investment regimes. Then, beginning a decade ago, numerous bilateral and sub-regional trade agreements were achieved, to serve as vital complements to domestic reforms and to foster trade flows among member countries. At the Second Summit of the Americas in 1998, negotiations among 34 democracies were launched to establish the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA). This report takes stock of the remarkable progress to date in the development of free trade in the Western Hemisphere. It examines trade flows between countries in the same regional groupings and between members of different sub-regional arrangements. The report describes the main characteristics of the trade arrangements signed between countries of the Hemisphere and explores the development of trade rules in these arrangements. Finally, the report details recent advances in the construction of the FTAA.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKForensic science has been under scrutiny for some time, since the release of the NAS report in 2009. The report cited the need for standardized practices and the accreditation of crime labs. Quality Management in Forensic Science covers a wide spectrum of forensic disciplines, relevant ISO and non-ISO standards, accreditation and quality management systems necessary in any forensic science laboratory. Written by a globally well-respected forensic scientist with decades of experience in the forensic science laboratory and on the stand, as an expert witness who is also a Fellow of both the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences. This book will be a must-have resource for all forensic science stakeholders, particularly law enforcement agents and lawyers less familiar with the impact of quality management on the reliability of scientific evidence. - A comprehensive, multidisciplinary reference of scientific practices for use in the forensic laboratory - Coverage from DNA to toxicology, from trace evidence to crime scene and beyond - Extensive review of ISO and non-ISO standards, accreditation, QMS and much more - Written by a foremost forensic scientist with decades of experience in the laboratory and as an expert witness

DOWNLOAD EBOOKSince 1990 a number of South American countries have either enacted or are in the process of adopting consumer protection statutory provisions. These statutes emphasize consumer transactional law including regulation of the terms of contracts relating to credit and other sales contracts. In addition, these provisions address consumer access to information, product warranties and redress for injuries caused by defective products. Of particular interest to foreign businesses are the provisions extending these standards to foreign manufacturers and exporters. This book provides both a country-by-country commentary on consumer protection provisions as well as the actual statutes in their original language accompanied by a side-by-English translation. South American Consumer Protection Laws is an essential resource for all lawyers, business executives, and consumer affairs consultants who are currently doing business in or planning to export products to South American countries.
