A series of lanthanide germano-molybdates has been synthesized as single crystals greater than 1 mm on edge. The general formula for the compounds is R2GeMoO8 where R = Pr, Nd, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, or Yb. The crystals all have a body-centered tetragonal (scheelite-type) structure with space group I41/a. The method of synthesis, crystal structure details, optical and magnetic properties are presented. (auth).
