Boston P.I. Sunny Randall goes on the road to protect a bestselling author—and uncovers a world of dark secrets—in the new novel by the Grand Master. Melanie Joan Hall is a bestselling author in a bind. Her publisher needs her to tour on behalf of her latest blockbuster, and Melanie Joan needs a bodyguard-cum-escort to protect her from an overbearing ex-husband whose presence unnerves her to the point of hysteria. Sunny’s cool demeanor, cop background, and P.I. smarts are an instant balm for the older woman. Sunny begins to sense that Melanie Joan’s ex—a psychotherapist—is not your basic stalker, and when an incident at a book signing leaves the ex bloodied and the author unconscious, it’s clear the stakes are high. Having decided that the only way to crack the case is from the inside, Sunny enters therapy, only to discover some disturbing truths about herself . . . while putting her life on the line. Gripping, nuanced, and filled with Parker’s signature dialogue and psychological insight, Shrink Rap is a winner.

When you visit a website, check your email, or download music, you enter into a contract that you probably don't know exists. "Wrap contracts" - shrinkwrap, clickwrap and browsewrap agreements - are non-traditional contracts that look nothing like legal documents. Contrary to what courts have held, they are not "just like" other standard form contracts, and consumers do not perceive them the same way. Wrap contract terms are more aggressive and permit dubious business practices, such as the collection of personal information and the appropriation of user-created content. In digital form, wrap contracts are weightless and cheap to reproduce. Given their low cost and flexible form, businesses engage in "contracting mania" where they use wrap contracts excessively and in a wide variety of contexts. Courts impose a duty to read upon consumers but don't impose a duty upon businesses to make contracts easy to read. The result is that consumers are subjected to onerous legalese for nearly every online interaction. In Wrap Contracts: Foundations and Ramifications, Nancy Kim explains why wrap contracts were created, how they have developed, and what this means for society. She explains how businesses and existing law unfairly burden users and create a coercive contracting environment that forces users to "accept" in order to participate in modern life. Kim's central thesis is that how a contract is presented affects and reveals the intent of the parties. She proposes doctrinal solutions - such as the duty to draft reasonably, specific assent, and a reconceptualization of unconscionability - which fairly balance the burden of wrap contracts between businesses and consumers.

Invisible Touch By Summer Devon Book 1 in the Shrink Wrap series. When Bonnie spurns the sexual advances of a real creep, she suddenly finds herself invisible to any man she finds attractive. She soon learns that the creepy man she turned down is also an amateur sorcerer who has placed an invisibility curse on her. Now he's threatening to make it permanent unless she agrees to spy on his boss, a man Bonnie finds irresistible. She just can't keep her hands from exploring his sexy body! At first Jared thinks he's going crazy. He knows he's embracing a delicious female but he doesn't know if the invisible being is an actual woman or ghost. When things heat up between Jared and Bonnie, they find a way to communicate. Now they have to figure out how to thwart Jared's enemy or Jared will never get a good look at the woman he's felt...all over. Seeing Is Believing By Kris Starr Book 2 in the Shrink Wrap series. Jessie LaFontaine is haunted - literally. By a one-hundred-seventy-seven-year-old ghost with a high libido and a nasty habit of transferring her naughty urges toward sexy men to Jessie. Desperate to get rid of her specter for good, Jessie follows the advice of a curiously knowledgeable cabbie and pays a visit to a parapsychologist. Problem is, Dr. Nicholas Federov is the studly hunk Jessie got down and dirty with at a nightclub, thanks to the amorous apparition. To make matters worse, Nicholas wants Jessie just as badly as she still wants him. Who knew getting rid of a ghost could be so hard...or feel so good? Crystal Clear Persuasion By Lyn Cash Book 3 in the Shrink Wrap series. Some weekly agendas are more taxing than others, and Shyla Stewart's just about overbooked. Her boss is forcing her to go on some woo-woo New Age retreat. She's been given a sex stone that seems to have a mind of its own and complete control over her libido. Her therapist just gave her a vibrator, and some wiseass cab driver with an eerie sense of intuition tells her she needs to get laid. Add one hunky, lumberjack-type stranger who seems to want Shyla as badly as she does him, and it's anybody's guess what will happen next. How much change and sex and crazy magic can an introverted workaholic take before the wild woman within her breaks free?

“One of the most useful books I’ve read about mental illnesses . . . It demystifies our complicated medical and legal system.” —Pete Earley, New York Times-bestselling author of Crazy: A Father’s Search Through America’s Mental Health Madness Finally, a book that explains everything you ever wanted to know about psychiatry! In Shrink Rap, three psychiatrists from different specialties provide frank answers to questions such as: • What is psychotherapy, how does it work, and why don’t all psychiatrists do it? • When are medications helpful? • What happens on a psychiatric unit? • Can Prozac make people suicidal? • Why do many doctors not like Xanax? • Why do we have an insanity defense? • Why do people confess to crimes they didn’t commit? Based on the authors’ hugely popular blog and podcast series, this book is for patients and everyone else who is curious about how psychiatrists work. Using compelling patient vignettes, Shrink Rap explains how psychiatrists think about and address the problems they encounter, from the mundane (how much to charge) to the controversial (involuntary hospitalization). The authors face the field’s shortcomings head-on, revealing what other doctors may not admit about practicing psychiatry. Candid and humorous, Shrink Rap gives a closeup view of psychiatry, peering into technology, treatments, and the business of the field. If you’ve ever wondered how psychiatry really works, let the Shrink Rappers explain. “A fascinating peek into the minds of those who study minds.” —The Washington Post “Most of us easily understand how to treat a broken arm, but a fractured psyche? That’s an entirely different matter. Or is it? This clear-headed presentation of psychiatric services and methods covers a lot of ground and achieves a conversational tone that’s both educational and entertaining.” —Baltimore Magazine
