In the article, "A history of water pump pliers," two manufacturers for the Eagle Claw Wrench are named --the Eagle Claw Wrench Company and the Mechanics Tool Company. The Mechanics Machine Company was organized in 1891 in Rockford, Illinois. Eagle Claw Wrench Company of Chicago was one of its customers. M.M.Co. soon acquired Eagle Claw. M.M.C. began producing the pliers at their new factory in Rockford under the name Mechanics Tool Company. In 1928 the company went on to become a founding member of the Borg Warner Corporation.
