This document contains Alaska Department of Fish and Game staff comments on statewide king and Tanner crab regulatory proposals. These comments were prepared by the department for use at the Alaska Board of Fisheries meeting, March 17-21, 2014 in Anchorage, Alaska to assist the public and Board. The stated staff comments should be considered preliminary and subject to change, if or when new information becomes available. Final department positions will be formulated after review of written and oral testimony presented to the Board.
This book contains regulatory proposals to be discussed at the Board of Fisheries' October 2011 to March 2012 meetings. Meetings are scheduled October 4-5 and 6-10, 2011 in Anchorage; December 2-7 in Valdez; January 15-21, 2012 in Petersburg; February 24-Mar. 4 in Ketchikan; and March 20-23 in Anchorage.
This memorandum describes standardized procedures that staff at Alaska Division of Commercial Fisheries should follow in their interactions with the Alaska Board of Fisheries involving change requests, petitions, proposals, and meeting activities in regards to fishery regulations. These protocols are particularly pertinent to the annual Board of Fishery meetings, and in fact this document was distributed one day before the Board's October 2002 meeting.
This report has been prepared for the Alaska Board of Fisheries (board) for reference when considering Proposal 68 during its March 2021 meeting. Proposal 68 asks the board to consider adopting amounts reasonably necessary for subsistence for Tanner crab.
