Methods for sampling, collecting, and rearing parasitoids of eggs, larvae, and pupae of the forest tent caterpillar, Malacosoma disstria Hübner, in the prairie provinces are discussed. Illustrated keys are provided for the identification of 42 Diptera and Hymenoptera species, which are parasitoids, hyperparasitoids, and scavangers associated with the forest tent caterpillar. Twenty-nine of these species are known to associate with forest tent caterpillar in this region, and another 15 occur in adjacent regions and are likely to occur there as well. A brief discussion is given of the biology, abundance, and probable role of each species identified. A glossary is included.
