The Prologue to John's Gospel has been an enigmatic object of inquiry in the history of biblical scholarship. This volume reengages readers with thirteen essays from various perspectives on the Prologue. These perspectives include source oriented approaches, form oriented approaches, functional approaches, and alternative non-traditional approaches. This book attempts to pave new paths to understanding the Prologue and cause readers to think more deeply about the beginning of John's Gospel.
This book takes the Fourth gospel in clearly defined sections and expounds the major themes, truths and admonitions. This is not just a history lesson. Dr Webb has sensitively applied many passages of John to the contemporary Christian. For anyone struggling with understanding the simple gospel message of salvation will find this book helpful. We are challenged to see ourselves in many of the first century encounters with Jesus, and in the parables that He taught. This book has a strong rejection of any works based salvation and expounds clearly how Jesus' unconditional love and complete forgiveness is the answer to the human problem of sin. We are challenged to seriously consider our personal relationship to the One who became flesh and dwelt among us in order to save.
