During a private trip to Singapore, German federal police officer Alexander Granger is approached by Interpol agent Brandon Song regarding overlapping investigations in Hamburg and the city-state. In both cities, commercial containers have been found with strange appliances built into them. While they are investigating these containers, they are shot at. In the South China Sea, tensions are boiling between China and Taiwan. There are indications that the two nations may be getting closer to a serious military conflict. A lawyer in Boston is asked to write a legal brief which could rattle the U.S. Presidency. Meanwhile, commercial containers are loaded onto trucks and head from Vancouver towards the Rocky Mountain States. On their way to Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming, the truck drivers leave a trail of death. Alexander Granger, with the help of Interpol in Singapore and police in Germany, follows the trail of the mysterious containers, trying to connect the dots between the various events and to prevent a global crisis.

The political philosophy of Leo Strauss has been the subject of significant scholarly and media attention in recent years, particularly in the context of the decision to invade Iraq in 2003. Allegations that a group of Strauss-inspired Neo-conservatives intervened in the foreign policy establishment of the US in order to realise the policy of 'regime change' began to emerge soon after the invasion, and unanswered questions remain a decade later. This book addresses these claims, focusing specifically on a group of Straussians active in the spheres of intelligence production, think tanks, and the media during the period from the 9/11 attacks to the invasion in 2003. Such an examination is intended not simply to identify and expose their activities promoting the policy of 'regime change' in Iraq during this period, but also to challenge them and the Straussian logics underpinning them. Utilising the thought of Jacques Derrida, the book enacts a deconstructive challenge to Strauss’ political philosophy which unsettles the fundamental assumptions it relies upon. In doing so, it exposes the securitising imperative underpinning Straussian thought and the Straussian interventions. It thereby simultaneously addresses crucial issues in political theory and contemporary foreign policy studies, while asserting that these dimensions of international politics can and should be dealt with in conjunction with each other. This book would be of interest to students and scholars of Global Politics, Political Theory, Security Studies and US Foreign Policy, and those outside the academy interested in Neo-conservatism and the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

By the time Alira is born, the entire world is under the grip of the evil king COVID-19. She does not find the beautiful world her mother had described to her while she was still her mother’s stomach. What Alira sees is a world of fear, despair and helplessness. She hears words like social distancing, quarantine, lockdown and face mask instead of flowers, trees, children and animals. No one comes to visit her; no one brings her flowers and gifts. Meantime, the world is in a state of paralysis by the rising numbers in infection and death caused by the sinister virus. Over 30 million people have fallen victims to the virus, and close to a million are dead. The scientists have, so far, not found a formula for a medicine to treat the sick. They have not succeeded in developing a vaccine to prevent people from getting infected. Millions of children miss schools and stay confined to homes. Alira represents the 385,000 babies who were born on the same day she was born. She is among the 104 million babies born in 2020 upto September. Will the 2.1 Billion children born during the last fifteen years, become a ‘lost generation’? Or will the virus be wiped out from the face of the globe to allow humanity to lead the everyday life?

Hartenian’s history of George W Bush propaganda for an invasion of Iraq returns the administration’s approach to its conceptual origins. Hartenian places "evidence" in the center of his analysis, showing that Rumsfeld’s "the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence" meant that no evidence was necessary to justify an invasion. The 9/11 attacks, indeed, "changed everything" for the Bush administration and in its aftermath the time for regime change in Iraq had simply come. With no good evidence to support its fears, the administration was certain of a post-9/11-conceived Iraq–al Qaeda "nexus," just as with no evidence except the "absence of evidence" it was certain of Iraqi mastery of "denial and deception" that hid "Saddam’s" "evil" activities. Resting on Cheney’s "one percent doctrine," administration "certainty" of the threat from Iraq required a US invasion. The policy offices of Douglas Feith at the Pentagon, with the help of George Tenet at CIA, would generate a case of such fright and enormity—the "mushroom cloud"—that required administration action. Manipulating intelligence and ignoring the growing body of evidence undermining its case, the Bush administration invaded Iraq to bring about "regime change."
