DOWNLOAD EBOOKWiring is everywhere around us. Miles of electrical wiring are present in the buildings where we live and work. Deterioration of wire systems (WS) can result in loss of critical functions in equipment powered by the WS, or loss of information regarding equipment operation. This can result in loss of control, smoke, and fire. This report identifies 9 findings concerning WS safety that are common to Fed. programs, and documents 42 Fed. and 18 industry S&T projects that are currently underway. Concludes that WS safety is a national issue that transcends government agencies and is important to public health and safety. Recommends 4 basic strategies to improve WS safety. Illustrated.
