Since its first publication in 2001, Revelation and the End of All Things has been a highly readable guide to one of the most challenging books in the Bible. Engaging the questions people most frequently ask about Revelation and sensationalistic scenarios about the end of the world, Craig Koester takes his readers through the entirety of Revelation, offering perspectives that are clear and compelling. In the second edition Koester provides new insights from recent scholarship and responses to the latest popular apocalyptic voices. Study questions make this new edition ideal for use in classrooms and study groups. Revelation and the End of All Things offers an accessible, engaging, and profoundly hopeful interpretation for students and general readers alike.
There are glaring examples of error being taught and preached by the vast majority of Christendom; such as the belief that people go to heaven when they die, and that a place of torment is waiting for those who choose not to believe the Christian message. Among much more error being preached, there is also the wide spread belief that the Sabbath day has been changed for Christians from the Saturday to the Sunday. The mark of the beast is not a figment of the imagination but a real danger that will face all of those who refuse to heed the last call of God to worship Him in truth. It is widely believed that at the relevant time it will be an easy thing to refuse to have the mark of the beast. However, the mark of the beast is not a visible sign to accept or reject but a subtle intrusion upon the mind by Satan the arch deceiver. This book contains answers to some important questions. However, these answers will have no meaning to those who refuse to become spiritually aware of the questions.
New in the Eerdmans Classic Biblical Commentaries collection In this now-classic exposition of Revelation, first published in 1972, George Eldon Ladd offers a clear, engaging, and insightful reading of the Apocalypse that is ideal for the pulpit, classroom, or personal study. In a brief introduction Ladd discusses the subject of authorship, the date and historical setting of Revelation, and the various methods of interpretation (preterist, historical, idealist, and futurist) that have been applied to the book throughout history. He then offers an analytical outline of Revelation’s structure and his verse-by-verse commentary, which reflects a historic premillennial perspective. The entire work is marked by Ladd’s sensitivity to the needs of both scholars and general readers and by his concern for proclaiming the message of Revelation for our time.
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A spellbinding and shocking look at Belinda Carlisle’s role in forming the Go-Go’s and her rise, fall, and eventual rebirth as a wife, mother, and sober artist “An unflinching look back . . . with heartbreaking honesty and a wry sense of humor.”—USA Today The women of the iconic eighties band the Go-Go’s will always be remembered as they appeared on the back of their debut record: sunny, smiling, each soaking in her own private bubble bath with chocolates and champagne. The photo is a perfect tribute to the fun, irreverent brand of pop music that the Go-Go’s created, but it also conceals the trials and secret demons that the members of the group—in particular, its lead singer, Belinda Carlisle—struggled with on their rise to stardom. Lips Unsealed is Belinda’s story in her own words—from her crazy days on tour with the Go-Go’s to her private problems with abusive relationships, self-esteem, and a thirty-year battle with addiction. Ultimately, it is a love letter to music, the lifelong friendships between the members of the Go-Go’s, the beloved husband and son who led Belinda to sobriety, and a life which, though deeply flawed, was—and is still—fully lived.
Who truly understands the book of Revelation? Surprisingly, answers to God's secrets have always been right before our eyes! We just had to wait on God's timing. Beware of man's prophecies. Jesus said most will be false. Only the Bible can be trusted. With end-time knowledge, you can see Revelation truth if you know how scriptures connect. Just look at the first prophesy in Revelation. Verse 5:5 confirms Daniel's 12:4 prophecy almost word for word. God's end-time secrets will be opened and unsealed by Jesus as knowledge increases during later days. That time has now arrived. This book is a guide showing where to look. Once you see the hidden connections between scriptures, prophecies of Revelation will be clearly understood in a miraculous way. Jesus foretold of great tribulation in Mark and Matthew. Both include this sentence: "Let the reader understand". Now is the time for that to happen by reading directly from the Bible. With guidance from this book, you can finally see answers to secrets of: the abomination of desolation; Paul's "third Heaven"; the seven seals; horsemen of apocalypse; the kings of Daniel chapter eleven; Daniels 12:1-3 "time of distress"; hidden details of trumpets and wrath; rapture; Armageddon; Gog and Magog; details of life during tribulation; details of life during millennium; and much more.
This book is the author's obedience to God. The purpose is to help the many individuals who are diligently seeking to understand their future as revealed in the Bible and the Jew who is interested in Israel's prophetic future. To accomplish this purpose, many Bible prophetic scriptures need to be correctly understood and put into a proper time sequence with the other scriptures. The author has sought to achieve this purpose by the arrangement of these Bible scriptures with minor commentary. Christians need to be prepared for the tribulation that is coming on those who truly trust in Jesus as Lord. Details of the true believers rapture (taking up) into Heaven need to be studied very carefully. Jews need to understand God's will for their acceptance of Jesus now as their Messiah. This requires that we be taught by the Holy Spirit with much prayer. Author James Robert (Bob) Baker is 81 years of age and has been married to his wife Laura for 56 years.
