DOWNLOAD EBOOKAquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) are invasive plants and animals that are transported and released, intentionally or unintentionally, outside of their historic range ANS can completely alter aquatic systems by destroying native plant and animal habitats; threatening the diversity and abundance of native species; and damage industrial, agricultural, and recreational activities dependent on surface waters. The significance of Colorado's aquatic resources requires a coordinated protection effort focused on prevention and coherent rapid response to the risk posed by ANS. The purpose of Colorado's Aquatic Nuisance Species Management Plan is to recommend a statewide comprehensive approach to prevent and manage ANS through collaborative strategies.
