Assisting Property Owners of Spain. This book intends to assist property owners in Spain by providing guidance on issues related to commonhold law in order to have a better understanding of the legislation applied to this special property with the idea of educating owners about matters of fundamental importance to their lives. Although any attempt to compress so much material into the covers of a single book obviously involves many difficult problems of selection, I have designed this guide to introduce the reader to those aspects of the commonhold law which are most likely to be encountered in everyday life. In line with that aim, I have attempted to explain the structures and principles of commonhold law in Spain in sufficient detail to provide the material with which working systems may be set up and problems may be solved. In the choice of topics, I have concentrated on those which are most practically relevant, omitting the subtle refinements of which solicitors are quite over-fond. I have tried therefore to draw a map of this specific part of the Spanish law which will help those who are puzzled by the legal implications of that sort of matters.

This white paper sets out the Coalition Government's proposals for taking forward implementation of the recommendations of the Independent Commission on Banking (ICB), chaired by Sir John Vickers (see ISBN 9780108510984). The ICB recommended a package of measures, consisting of: (i) Ring-fencing vital banking services; (ii) Increasing banks' loss-absorbency; (iii) Enhancing competition in the banking sector. This paper aims to clarify how the Government will implement these proposals, so that UK banks are sufficiently resilient to withstand excessive financial shocks, and sufficiently resolvable so as to fail safely without drawing on taxpayer support. The publication is divided into four chapters, with one annex. Chapter 1: Context of these reforms; Chapter 2: Ring-fencing; Chapter 3: Loss-absorbency; Chapter 4: Competition.
