The old building had been taken down a short time before the sketch was made, but the artist had retained, from actual knowledge of the place, a vivid recollection of the architectural work, and others testifying to the correctness of his sketch, it may be regarded as a good representation of the building, somewhat remodeled in later years, yet some portions retaining the unique style of the olden time. The views, how ever, reproduced in the heliotype, have not, as rarely can they have, the clearness and finish which are presented in photographic representation.
