"If I wait for someone else to validate my existence, it will mean that I'm short-changing myself," appropriately said by Zanele Muholi, a South African Activist, serves the very motto of this book. Prismatic Hearts aims to accentuate the individualism of people belonging to the LGBTQ++ Community. Even in the vibrant growing modernity of the 21st century, that we thrive in, the stigma revolving around the community still prevails. The society continues to label 'abnormal' to anything and everything that doesn't meet their basic taste. It is high time we take in charge to minimize and ultimately curb out such mentality. This book is a collection of prose and poetry, delicately penned by people belonging from and outside the community who together has contributed to upheld the beauty of being oneself.

The design and development of an electronically controlled high speed streak camera is described. The camera employs a magnetic suspension and drive mechanism which allows a prismatic mirror to be suspended without friction in a magnetic field and to be driven to extremely high rotational velocities. This provides the streak camea with a time resolution and controllability which could not be achieved by more conventional means. The design, development, and initial operation are described, but no performance data is available as technical and administrative problems forced termination of the project before it could be completed. An omnibus of works by the great British writer that showcases her hauntingly erotic fabulism and the subversive richness of her imagination. In The Bloody Chamber, Angela Carter's famous collection of deeply unsettling stories inspired by fairy tales, we see a Beauty who turns into a Beast, Little Red Riding Hood's grandmother stoned as a werewolf, and Bluebeard as a murderous, porn-addicted businessman. In the surreally delightful novel Wise Children, an elderly woman recounts the colorful life she and her identical twin sister led as vaudeville performers. And the early story collection Fireworks reveals Carter taking her first forays into the fantastical writing that was to become her unforgettable legacy. As critic Laura Miller has argued, "Most contemporary literary fiction with a touch of magic owes something to Angela Carter's trailblazing." This Everyman's Library omnibus gathers the best of Angela Carter in one astonishing volume.

This is a historical account that details Shackleton's expedition, written on the passage by ocean liner from New Zealand to Britain. The expedition was led by Ernest H. Shackleton, who set sail from Port Lyttelton, New Zealand, on January 1, 1908. Shackleton and a party of 14 men were dropped off at Cape Royds on Ross Island on February 3. The men were split into three groups. One would attempt to reach the South Pole, another would travel north to the South Magnetic Pole, and a third would explore the mountains west of McMurdo Sound. On October 29, Shackleton, three companions, and four ponies set out for the South Pole. Despite the great difficulty, they reached a latitude of 88°23' S. on January 9, 1909, further south than any prior expedition. They were compelled to turn back due to fierce blizzards and a shortage of supplies. They returned to the Nimrod and arrived in New Zealand safely. In addition to getting within 97.5 nautical miles (180.6 kilometers) of the pole, the expedition accomplished two other noteworthy feats. Douglas Mawson, Edgeworth David, and Alistair Mackay led the first ascent of Mount Erebus, Antarctica's most active volcano, on March 5-11, 1908, and the same three men reached the South Magnetic Pole on January 16, 1909.
