Pathological Myopia is a major cause of severe vision loss worldwide. The mechanisms for vision loss include cataract, glaucoma, retinal detachment, and above all, degeneration of the macula within the posterior staphyloma. Pathological Myopia is one of the only current books to specifically address this disease and discusses recent developments in imaging technologies and various approaches to treatments, such as laser photocoagulation, photodynamic therapy, pharmaco-therapeutic injections in the vitreous, and surgery. Complete with high-quality color images, this book is written and edited by leaders in the field and is geared towards ophthalmologists, including residents and fellows in training, glaucoma and cataract specialists, and vitreoretinal macula experts.

Choroidal Disorders provides an overview on various chorioretinal disorders with a special emphasis on choroidal imaging. As our understanding of the choroid has significantly improved with the development of advanced optical coherence tomography (OCT) and its role in posterior segment diseases is gaining new significance, this book focuses on the related improvements, diagnostic capabilities, management and prognosis of various chorioretinal disorders. It covers conventional techniques, such as ultrasonography and indocyanine green angiography as well as the most advanced techniques, including enhanced depth imaging OCT, swept source OCT, and OCT angiography. - Concise overview of various chorioretinal disorders, with special emphasis on choroidal imaging - Written for practitioners and researchers in sensory systems (vision), ophthalmologists, and retina specialists - Covers the most advanced imaging techniques in choroidal disorders, such as enhanced depth imaging OCT, swept source OCT, and OCT angiography

Vitrectomy techniques and instrumentation have been used successfully to treat a number of conditions in the anterior segment. These include: 1) vitreous in the anterior chamber, 2) inadequate pupillary openings, 3) lens surgery, 4) epithelial downgrowth, 5) hyphemas, and 6) certain glaucomas. These methods offer several advantages to the anterior segment surgeon. The advantages are primarily those of a well-controlled tissue excision system, maintenance of the normal shape of the globe, and ability to control intraocular pressure. This book covers the entire range of vitreoretinal surgeries. The first section covers essential information about the anatomy and the appropriate diagnostic techniques which helps in preoperative evaluation. The second section is on surgical instrumentation, and includes adjuncts used in VR surgery. Advanced instrumentation such as 3D visualization system, endoscopic vitrectomy and robotic surgeries are well described in the chapters. The later sections deal with the surgical technique for different disease entities. Management of posterior segment complication of anterior segment surgeries such as cataract and keratoprosthesis are reviewed in detail. A section on gene therapy has been incorporated. This book will help the reader to gather a detailed round-up of basics of and advances made in the field of vitreoretinal surgery. It is supplemented with videos. This book is meant for practicing retinal surgeons, those in training as well as students with interest in vitreoretinal surgery.

This atlas and textbook aims to provide diverse pictures, facilitating the readers to learn fundus diseases. Retinal detachment is a common group of vitreo-retinal diseases that causes blindness. The diagnosis and differential diagnosis are dependent mostly on ophthalmolscopy and fundus imaging technology. With the development of imaging technology, it is getting easier for ophthalmologist to make quick and accurate decision on the diagnosis. The book includes both common types of retinal detachment and some rare diseases. Moreover, some diseases without but related to retinal detachment are included in the book. In addition to traditional color fundus photos, fundus fluorescent angiography, ultrasound and traditional OCT images, OCT angiography and ultrasound angiography images are included too. This book also contains brief introductions to each disease. Differentiated from detailed review of pathogenesis or treatment, the readers will discover concise yet direct concept. This atlas and textbook is yours to read and enjoy, but also to use as a valuable tool in your management of the patient with retinal detachment. Keep it handy. We hope doctors in training and those who have had certain clinical experiences interested in vitro-retinal diseases can benefit from this book.

This information-packed volume is the ultimate guide for today's vitreo-retinal surgeon. It is written by leading experts in the field. The book begins with an extensive review, analyzing the evolution of present-day detachment surgery over the past 70 years. Here, a changing pattern of treatment modalities comes into view, with four primary procedures in use at the beginning of the twenty-first century. Experts in the field of retinal and vitreous surgery then describe the following surgical techniques: cerclage with drainage, pneumatic retinopexy, primary vitrectomy, and minimal segmental buckling without drainage. The advantages and disadvantages of each technique are assessed in relation to case selection, single operation attachment, final attachment, complications, visual function, and cost effectiveness. The techniques are then compared with each other. The volume continues with a description of the use of modern adjuvant pharmacotherapy (intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide, anti-metabolites, fluorouracil, daunorubicin, heparin, etc.) to improve the surgical and functional outcome of these techniques. Finally, in the chapter entitled "Outlook for the Future," new imaging techniques (ballistic light imaging, refined ultrasonography, wide angle pseudo color SLO, etc.) and anti-proliferative drugs are discussed. Ophthalmologists, fellows in retinal and vitreous surgery, and students and residents will find this book essential for diagnosing and repairing a primary retinal detachment: The book contains instructive, color computer drawings and tables.

This is the second edition of a highly successful textbook that in many areas has become the preferred manual of vitreoretinal surgery. It provides a complete guide to all common vitreoretinal surgical procedures and also covers diagnosis and other aspects of management. The book is designed to allow a trainee or professional vitreoretinal surgeon to determine the best methodology in individual cases. In order to acquaint the reader with different opinions, “surgical pearls” have been contributed by other international experts in the field. These have proved popular in the past as an illustration of alternative methods, without detracting from the overall method described by the main author. Vitreoretinal Surgery will continue to prove particularly popular amongst trainees, but will also be of value to practicing professionals who need help in the management of difficult and rare cases. The text is backed up by the provision of videos of some aspects of the surgery.
