The Pratt family descends from the Norman Baron de Pratellis who accompanied William the Conquerer to England in 1066. Macuth (Matthew) Pratt (1596-1672) was born in England and married Elizabeth Bate Kingham in Aston Clinton, Buckinghamshire in 1619. They immigrated to America in 1622 and settled Weymouth, Massachusetts. They were the parents of eight children. Descendants remained in Massachusetts for several generations before moving to New York and then to Colorado. Descendants presently live in Colorado, California and other parts of the United States.
