From the middle of the fifteenth century a distinctively Roman Renaissance occurred. Vittoria Colonna was one of the best known and most highly celebrated female poets of the Italian Renaissance. Remembered as the official who failed to keep Luther in the Catholic fold, Tommaso de Vio, Cardinal Cajetan (1469-1534) was a multi-faceted figure whose significance extends beyond those days in Augsburg.
