Marion County was established in 1818 with the courthouse at Pikeville. In 1881, the county seat was moved to Hamilton. The courthouse burned in April of 1887 and all the earliest marriage records were destroyed. This volume begins with the records which were kept following the catastrophic fire of 1887.
