Two Decades of Knowledge is a compilation of papers, slides, posters and book chapters written and presented by informational professionals of Pustaka Negeri Sarawak in conferences, seminars and workshop at national, regional and international level. It is a twenty-year accumulation of knowledge and active contribution by Pustaka Negeri Sarawak to the nurturing of a well-informed society.
In achieving civic engagement and social justice in smart cities, literacy programs are offered in the society by three essential information service providers: libraries, archives, and museums. Although the library and museum services are documented in literature, there is little evidence of community-led library or museum services that make a full circle in understanding community-library, community-archive, and community-museum relationships. Dunia Digital Pengajian Alam Melayu merupakan kupasan dan perbincangan mengenai pembangunan portal Pengajian Alam Melayu di Institut Alam dan Tamadun Melayu (ATMA) dan The Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies, (KITLV). ATMA telah membangunkan Portal Malaycivilization.com dan KITLV pula membangunkan Portal KITLV. Kedua-dua portal ini menyediakan akses kepada pengguna bagi mendapatkan bahan rujukan dan maklumat yang berkait dengan Pengajian Alam Melayu. Pengetahuan dan pemahaman terhadap Tamadun Melayu, Tamadun Belanda dan sejarah pembangunan intelektual di antara kedua-dua tamadun tersebut, dan Pengajian Alam Melayu telah memberikan inspirasi berguna dalam melihat proses pembangunan portal tersebut. Analisis perbandingan dilakukan melalui aspek sosiologikal dan teknikal.. Kedua-dua analisis ini juga membuka ruang yang luas dalam memahami teknik dan strategi yang digunakan oleh ATMA dan KITLV untuk membangunkan portal. Secara umumnya buku ini menyatukan kembali bidang sains dan kemanusiaan yang terpisah dan bergerak bersendirian. Kedua-dua bidang ini telah menyumbang kepada pelbagai aspek kehidupan sama ada yang dapat dilihat secara fizikal atau yang berkait dengan masyarakat. Melalui buku ini, kedua-dua bidang tersebut digunakan sebagai idea utama untuk melihat Pengajian Alam Melayu di alam siber melalui pembangunan portal. Inilah sebenarnya yang menjadi tunjang kepada penulisan buku ini. Penulis juga berhasrat untuk mengembalikan semula zaman kegemilangan falsafah tabii yang suatu ketika dahulu menjadi medium utama untuk memahami manusia dan alam sekitarnya. Tanpa disangka, inisiatif untuk mengkaji dan memahami kedua-dua portal ini berdasarkan aspek sosiologikal dan teknikal telah menghasilkan beberapa penemuan berasaskan aspek kemanusiaan, sains sosial, sains komputer dan teknologi maklumat. Penemuan ini juga dilihat sebagai suatu inisiatif permulaan untuk menghidupkan kembali asas utama kepada sains dan kemanusiaan iaitu falsafah tabii.

This groundbreaking work studies the Arabic literary culture of early modern Southeast Asia on the basis of largely unstudied and unknown manuscripts. It offers new perspectives on intellectual interactions between the Middle East and Southeast Asia, the development of Islam and especially Sufism in the region, the relationship between the Arabic and Malay literary traditions, and the manuscript culture of the Indian Ocean world. It brings to light a large number of hitherto unknown texts produced at or for the courts of Southeast Asia, and examines the role of royal patronage in supporting Arabic literary production in Southeast Asia.
Gangsters and Revolutionaries is the first in-depth study of one of the 'people's armies' which emerged from the chaos at the close of World War II in Indonesia to join the struggle for Indonesian independence in 1945. It traces the story of the People's Militia of Greater Jakarta from its origins as a loose network of petty criminals and labor bosses in the slums of urban Jakarta and the feudal estates of the surrounding countryside, to its destruction at the hands of the Indonesian army in the late 1940s. This book examines the social basis of the Indonesian revolution, especially the ways in which the revolutionary forces made use of existing social structures in mobilizing a popular following. It also highlights the painful process by which the new Indonesian state discarded and suppressed groups which had been instrumental in its own rise to power. Archival records, contemporary newspapers and interviews with survivors have been used to shed new light on the early history of the Indonesian army, showing a tangled politics in which regular and irregular units, general staff officers and the Ministry of Defense vied for influence and struggled to formulate a strategy for guerrilla war. Gangsters and Revolutionaries introduces a host of unexpected but fascinating characters, from the cat-eating General Mustopo and the implacable Haji Darip to the gangster unit which saw service with the Dutch as Her Majesty's Irregular Troops. Robert Cribb is Senior Fellow in Indonesian History at the Australian National University. His research focuses on Indonesian national identity, mass violence, environmental politics and historical geography. He is the author of the Historical Atlas of Indonesia (2000).
