Naturalistic cognitive science, when realistically rendered, rightly maintains that to think is to deploy contentful mental representations. Accordingly, conscious perception, memory, and anticipation are forms of cognition that, despite their introspectively manifest differences, may coincide in content. Sometimes we remember what we saw; other times we predict what we will see. Why, then, does what it is like consciously to perceive, differ so dramatically from what it is like merely to recall or anticipate the same? Why, if thought is just representation, does the phenomenal character of seeing a sunset differ so stunningly from the tepid character of recollecting or predicting the sun's descent? J. Christopher Maloney argues that, unlike other cognitive modes, perception is in fact immediate, direct acquaintance with the object of thought. Although all mental representations carry content, the vehicles of perceptual representation are uniquely composed of the very objects represented. To perceive the setting sun is to use the sun and its properties to cast a peculiar cognitive vehicle of demonstrative representation. This vehicle's embedded referential term is identical with, and demonstrates, the sun itself. And the vehicle's self-attributive demonstrative predicate is itself forged from a property of that same remote star. So, in this sense, the perceiving mind is an extended mind. Perception is unbrokered cognition of what is real, exactly as it really is. Maloney's theory of perception will be of great interest in the philosophy of mind and cognitive science.

Our intent is to bring a quest in knowing “YOU”, by yourself in the form of the book The Story of You - Bio Computer. It is the first step in putting tiny wisdom through a lens of Spirituality, Science, History and Digital technologies. This book is for everyone, transcending geographies, organizations, governments, religions, languages, caste, countries, rich, poor, and so on. If you are not spending enough time to understand scientifically Who “YOU” are then you are wasting your life, irrespective of whatever the position, power, role, status and wealth etc. you hold in the external world. You are an individual Bio Computer in a complex web -controlled by Artificial Intelligence and 10 programs through seven bodies of YOU. It is possible to change some of these programs, and other global programs that need to be de-clutched and configured to the right IP address. One of the purposes of this book is to make you realize intellectually that, as an individual edge device or Bio Computer YOU are helpless, and YOU must realize that there is “NO YOU “. That is when you surrender with true wisdom. This is a magnificent creation and evolved over billions of years. If you are not experiencing this creation and higher levels of Consciousness, you are just dying like a worm. Make use of the remaining few years of your life. Firstly, try to become awakened and live the life of an enlightened being while you are on this planet. Human beings are designed to be enlightened. Secondly this could be the last life on this planet for you. You are destined to move to the lower vibration or lower Consciousness realms after your death and you may have to park for a very long period till your heart is flowered. Hence, it is even more important and be prepared to go to Moksha or higher realms, when you leave this planet.

Originally published in 1974, this introductory text has been designed specifically for teachers in training, and it presents the basic psychological principles governing learning, perception, motivation and the retention of knowledge at the time. The text is carefully tailored for would-be teachers in its clear and informal style, and in its selective aspects of psychology which the teacher can use to advantage in his efforts to assist the child. The book has an eclectic approach to psychological theory, drawing upon the insights of behaviourism, perceptualism and the Gestalt school, as well as the developmental theories of Jean Piaget. The author discusses in some detail theories concerning the nature of intelligence, and the relationship between creativity and intelligence; and he investigates the dynamics of social adjustment, introducing the part that may be played by meditation in helping to solve some of the problems of emotional stress within the learning situation. In his consideration of the management of learning, the author lays much emphasis upon the importance of individual cognitive styles, individualizing instruction and independent learning. In one chapter Dr Mueller is concerned with factors in the measurement of personality and of performance in the classroom, and he reflects upon the specific problem of objectivity in such assessment. Finally, some consideration is given to the problems and characteristics of the socially disadvantaged child and to the role of the teacher in helping to solve some of the learning problems of these children.

Most people in the Western world listen to music because of emotions. They want to create or experience emotions. But music is made of tones, tones are sound waves and sound waves are physics. How is it possible that physics becomes psychology, because emotions are a psychological phenomenon? When people like a certain piece of music, they usually want to listen to it again and again. Not infrequently for years and decades. What could be the reasons for this? When people like a piece of music, it is primarily the melody that they like. For most people, the melody is the face of a piece. More than anything else, it is the element of music they remember. What are the characteristics of melodies that make them to be remembered by listeners? What features of the melody could it be that ensure being liked by listeners? Based on more than 300 keywords, over 160 musical examples, and 39 charts, answers to these and many other questions are sought and offered in this book. This book is always two-in-one. By illuminating how melodies are built that enjoy great popularity, it is a book of music theory. In this way, it addresses readers who are primarily interested in the book because they themselves invent melodies. By illuminating what psychological mechanisms and physiological responses trigger the melodic operations of composers and improvisers, it is an introduction to music psychological thinking. It combines fundamental considerations from cognitive science, psychology, anthropology, and linguistics. Thus, it is addressed not only to music theorists and musicologists, but ultimately to all readers who wish to expand their knowledge of how melodies work.

An engaging introduction to the science of vision that offers a coherent account of vision based on general information processing principles In this accessible and engaging introduction to modern vision science, James Stone uses visual illusions to explore how the brain sees the world. Understanding vision, Stone argues, is not simply a question of knowing which neurons respond to particular visual features, but also requires a computational theory of vision. Stone draws together results from David Marr's computational framework, Barlow's efficient coding hypothesis, Bayesian inference, Shannon's information theory, and signal processing to construct a coherent account of vision that explains not only how the brain is fooled by particular visual illusions, but also why any biological or computer vision system should also be fooled by these illusions. This short text includes chapters on the eye and its evolution, how and why visual neurons from different species encode the retinal image in the same way, how information theory explains color aftereffects, how different visual cues provide depth information, how the imperfect visual information received by the eye and brain can be rescued by Bayesian inference, how different brain regions process visual information, and the bizarre perceptual consequences that result from damage to these brain regions. The tutorial style emphasizes key conceptual insights, rather than mathematical details, making the book accessible to the nonscientist and suitable for undergraduate or postgraduate study.
