Operation of Wireless Communications Services in the 2.3 GHz Band - Establishment of Rules and Policies for the Digital Audio Radio Satellite Service (US Federal Communications Commission Regulation) (FCC) (2018 Edition) The Law Library presents the complete text of the Operation of Wireless Communications Services in the 2.3 GHz Band - Establishment of Rules and Policies for the Digital Audio Radio Satellite Service (US Federal Communications Commission Regulation) (FCC) (2018 Edition). Updated as of May 29, 2018 In this document, the Commission affirms, modifies, and clarifies its actions in response to various petitions for reconsideration and/or clarification. The revised rules are intended to enable Wireless Communications Service (WCS) licensees to deploy broadband services in the 2305-2320 MHz and 2345-2360 MHz (2.3 GHz) WCS bands while continuing to protect Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service (SDARS) operator Sirius XM Radio Inc. (Sirius XM) and aeronautical mobile telemetry (AMT) operations in adjacent bands and the deep space network (DSN) earth station in Goldstone, California from harmful interference. In addition, the revised rules will facilitate the flexible deployment and operation of SDARS terrestrial repeaters in the 2320-2345 MHz SDARS band, while protecting adjacent bands WCS licensees from harmful interference. Operation of Wireless Communications Services in 2.3 GHz Band, etc. (US Federal Communications Commission Regulation) (FCC) (2018 Edition) The Law Library presents the complete text of the Operation of Wireless Communications Services in 2.3 GHz Band, etc. (US Federal Communications Commission Regulation) (FCC) (2018 Edition). Updated as of May 29, 2018 In this document, the Commission amends its rules to enable the deployment of mobile broadband services in the Wireless Communications Services (WCS) while limiting the potential for harmful interference to satellite radio users, aeronautical mobile telemetry (AMT) operations, and the Deep Space Network (DSN) research facility in Goldstone, CA. In addition, the Commission establishes enhanced performance requirements to ensure that WCS licensees use the spectrum intensively in the public interest. The Commission also adopts technical rules governing the operation of Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service (SDARS) terrestrial repeaters that will not constrain their function or deployment but will limit the potential for interference to adjacent-band WCS spectrum users, a blanket licensing regime for repeaters operating up to 12 kilowatts (kW) average equivalent isotropically radiated power (EIRP) that will facilitate their deployment, and rules that will ensure that SDARS repeaters remain truly complementary to a satellite-based service and are not used to transmit local programming or advertising. Establishment of Policies and Service Rules for the Broadcasting- Satellite Service (US Federal Communications Commission Regulation) (FCC) (2018 Edition) The Law Library presents the complete text of the Establishment of Policies and Service Rules for the Broadcasting- Satellite Service (US Federal Communications Commission Regulation) (FCC) (2018 Edition). Updated as of May 29, 2018 The Federal Communications Commission adopts processing and service rules for the 17/24 GHz Broadcasting-Satellite Service (BSS). Specifically, the Commission adopts a first-come, first-served licensing procedure for the 17/24 GHz BSS, as well as various safeguards, reporting requirements, and licensee obligations. The Commission also adopts geographic service rules to require 17/24 GHz BSS licensees to provide service to Alaska and Hawaii as discussed herein. In addition, the Commission establishes rules and requirements for orbital spacing, minimum antenna diameter, and antenna performance standards. Also, the Commission establishes limits for uplink and downlink power levels to minimize the possibility of harmful interference. Finally, the Commission stipulates criteria to facilitate sharing in the 24 GHz and 17 GHz bands. Service Rules and Policies for the Broadcasting Satellite Service (US Federal Communications Commission Regulation) (FCC) (2018 Edition) The Law Library presents the complete text of the Service Rules and Policies for the Broadcasting Satellite Service (US Federal Communications Commission Regulation) (FCC) (2018 Edition). Updated as of May 29, 2018 In this document, the Federal Communications Commission adopts rules to mitigate space path interference between the 17/24 GHz Broadcasting-Satellite Service (BSS) space-to-Earth transmissions and the feeder link receiving antennas of Direct Broadcast Satellite Service (DBS) space stations that operate in the same frequency band. We adopt an off-axis power flux density (pfd) coordination trigger for 17/24 GHz BSS space stations. We also require a minimum orbital separation of 0.2 degrees between 17/24 GHz BSS space stations and DBS space stations. We place bounds on orbital eccentricity and inclination of 17/24 GHz BSS space stations and condition the protection of DBS networks to certain assumed limits on eccentricity and inclination. By these actions, we facilitate the introduction of the 17/24 GHz BSS and anticipate that it will provide new and innovative services, including video, audio, data, and video-on-demand, to consumers in the United States and promote increased competition among satellite and terrestrial services. Advanced Wireless Services (US Federal Communications Commission Regulation) (FCC) (2018 Edition) The Law Library presents the complete text of the Advanced Wireless Services (US Federal Communications Commission Regulation) (FCC) (2018 Edition). Updated as of May 29, 2018 This document establishes procedures for the relocation of Broadband Radio Service (BRS) operations from the 2150-2160/62 MHz band, as well as for the relocation of Fixed Microwave Service (FS) operations from the 2160-2175 MHz band, and modifies existing relocation procedures for the 2110-2150 MHz and 2175-2180 MHz bands. This document also establishes cost-sharing rules to identify the reimbursement obligations for Advanced Wireless Service (AWS) and Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) entrants benefiting from the relocation of incumbent FS operations in the 2110-2150 MHz and 2160-2200 MHz bands and AWS entrants benefiting from the relocation of BRS incumbents in the 2150-2160/62 MHz band. We continue our ongoing efforts to promote spectrum utilization and efficiency with regard to the provision of new services, including AWS. This document also dismisses a petition for reconsideration filed by the Wireless Communications Association International, Inc. (WCA) as moot.
