Excerpt from Official Report of the International Sunday-School Convention, 1915 It was early recognized that its value as a report would be largely increased by prompt publication following the final adjournment Of the convention. Its worth as a record, it, was evident, would depend upon fulness Of detail and accuracy of statement. TO secure these desiderata equitable allotments of space in the printed volume were made to the respective divisions and departments Of the International work and the superintendent Of each was made responsible for the furnishing of the requisite matter. The participants in the program numbered three hundred and seventy-eight. They produced a plethora Of material which has caused no little editorial perplexity. TO preserve it all several large volumes would be required; therefore, limitation, selection, abridgment and exclusion have been compulsory. All addresses delivered at the simultaneous meetings have been excluded; only epitomes of the addresses heard by the main convention are given; the conference addresses have suffered both abridgment and exclusion. SO it happens that many speeches, richly deserving prominence and permanence in their entirety, have been wholly omitted or greatly condensed. Perhaps the time will come when the International Sunday School Association will deem it advantageous to its work to produce two' books following its conventions, one volume to contain the addresses verbatim, and the other to set forth the formal proceedings. If such a plan were in vogue now the work Of the editor would be a joy and the Sunday School world would be given a thesaurus Of wisdom and eloquence. The volume is sent forth with the earnest prayer that the divine Spirit will use it for the glory of God and the advancement of the kingdom of His dear Son. Excerpt from Organized Sunday School Work in North America, 1914-1918: Official Report of the Fifteenth International Sunday School Association Convention, Buffalo, New York, June 191-25, 1918 Department heads in charge of various divisions of the program at the Buffalo convention were made responsible for summaries of the addresses delivered, as well as for what further report of the several conferences it was thought advisable to preserve. On account of necessary limitation of the size of the book, few addresses have been published in full, although all the facts contained have for the most part been retained. The decision to publish a separate volume to contain in full all of the addresses of the important educational conferences will account for the comparatively small space given that department in this report. Every effort has been put forth to make this book as attractive as possible. Doubtless material has been omitted which some readers would have had included; but an editor can only approximate his endeavor to please everybody. That the suggestions made at the convention may be available to the public as soon as possible, the volume has been issued with all haste consistent with a well-balanced report.
