Millions of adults are disillusioned, disappointed, and even despairing about the way their life has turned out. They may have worked hard and done what they were supposed to do, but the rewards they expected aren't there for them. Others may have made major mistakes and fear they will continue to be held back by them for the rest of their lives. Many find themselves living the lives that other people have designed for them or lives they have just drifted into. All of us have dreams we have let go of, hopes we think we can't realize, or plans that have fizzled out. Not only are we missing out on our dreams, but the world is missing the gifts we might have provided. In It's Not Too Late, Dr. Fuentes provides a simple step-by-step guide to creating the life we were truly meant to live. This book shows us how to resurrect our lost or "impossible" dreams, step onto a path of our own choosing, and succeed in achieving our most treasured goals. Using the Vision/Strategy/Action model that was so successful with her students, Dr. Fuentes helps readers to identify their hidden wishes and hopes and to understand why they have not yet come to fruition. She leads them in an exploration of their goals and shows them how to turn seeming obstacles into steppingstones. Then she gently helps them into those first crucial steps of making their dream a reality. The method outlined in this book is something that anyone can use. It does not require any special training or education. It can be applied to small problems and large ones. It works for goals as varied as helping an aging parent or restructuring a business operation. It can be used by individuals and by groups. The focus of It's Not Too Late is on practicality, do-ability, and specificity. At the end of the book, the reader will have in hand a fully worked out, realistic, and achievable plan for realizing their dream. The book can be used over and over again for new goals. Whether you are looking for a mate, hoping for a promotion, or wanting to begin a charitable project, you will see your idea in a new light, get clarity on the baby steps necessary to make it happen, and find yourself on the road to a new future.

Beware! Dangerous secrets lie between the pages of this book. OK, I warned you. But if you think I'll give anything away, or tell you that this is the sequel to my first literary endeavor, The Name of This Book is Secret, you're wrong. I'm not going to remind you of how we last left our heroes, Cass and Max-Ernest, as they awaited intiation into the mysterious Terces Society, or the ongoing fight against the evil Dr. L and Ms. Mauvais. I certainly won't be telling you about how the kids stumble upon the Museum of Magic, where they finally meet the amazing Pietro! Oh, blast! I've done it again. Well, at least I didn't tell you about the missing Sound Prism, the nefarious Lord Pharaoh, or the mysterious creature born in a bottle over 500 years ago, the key to the biggest secret of all. I really can't help myself, now can I? Let's face it - if you're reading this, it's too late.

When it comes to the climate, we don’t need more marketing or anxiety. We need established facts and a plan for collective action. The climate is the fundamental issue of our time, and now we face a critical decision. Whether to be optimistic or fatalistic, whether to profess skepticism or to take action. Yet it seems we can barely agree on what is really going on, let alone what needs to be done. We urgently need facts, not opinions. Insights, not statistics. And a shift from thinking about climate change as a “me” problem to a “we” problem. The Carbon Almanac is a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration between hundreds of writers, researchers, thinkers, and illustrators that focuses on what we know, what has come before, and what might happen next. Drawing on over 1,000 data points, the book uses cartoons, quotes, illustrations, tables, histories, and articles to lay out carbon’s impact on our food system, ocean acidity, agriculture, energy, biodiversity, extreme weather events, the economy, human health, and best and worst-case scenarios. Visually engaging and built to share, The Carbon Almanac is the definitive source for facts and the basis for a global movement to fight climate change. This isn’t what the oil companies, marketers, activists, or politicians want you to believe. This is what’s really happening, right now. Our planet is in trouble, and no one concerned group, corporation, country, or hemisphere can address this on its own. Self-interest only increases the problem. We are in this together. And it’s not too late for concerted, collective action for change.

The beloved bestselling collection of common sense wisdom from a celebrated psychologist and military veteran who proves it's never too late to move beyond the deepest of personal losses After service in Vietnam, as a surgeon for the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment in 1968-69, at the height of the war, Dr. Gordon Livingston returned to the U.S. and began work as a psychiatrist. In that capacity, he has listened to people talk about their lives--what works, what doesn't, and the limitless ways (many of them self-inflicted) that people find to be unhappy. He is also a parent twice bereaved; in one thirteen-month period he lost his eldest son to suicide, his youngest to leukemia. Out of a lifetime of experience, Gordon Livingston has extracted thirty bedrock truths, including: We are what we do. Any relationship is under the control of the person who cares the least. The perfect is the enemy of the good. Only bad things happen quickly. Forgiveness is a form of letting go, but they are not the same thing. The statute of limitations has expired on most of our childhood traumas. Livingston illuminates these and twenty-four other truths in a series of carefully hewn, perfectly calibrated essays, many of which focus on our closest relationships and the things that we do to impede or, less frequently, enhance them. Again and again, these essays underscore that "we are what we do," and that while there may be no escaping who we are, we have the capacity to face loss, misfortune, and regret and to move beyond them--that it is not too late. Full of things we may know but have not articulated to ourselves, Too Soon Old, Too Late Smart offers solace, guidance, and hope to everyone ready to become the person they'd most like to be.

The current approach to resolving sovereign debt crises does not work: sovereign debt restructurings come too late and address too little. Though unresolved debt crises impose enormous costs on societies, many recent restructurings have not been deep enough to provide the conditions for economic recovery (as illustrated by the Greek debt restructuring of 2012). And if the debtor decides not to accept the terms demanded by the creditors, finalizing a restructuring can be slowed by legal challenges (as illustrated by the recent case of Argentina, deemed as "the trial of the century"). A fresh start for distressed debtors is a basic principle of a well-functioning market economy, yet there is no international bankruptcy framework for sovereign debts. While this problem is not new, the United Nations and the global community are now willing to do something about it. Providing guidance for those who intend to take up reform, this book assesses the relative merits of various debt-restructuring proposals, especially in relation to the main deficiencies of the current nonsystem. With contributions by leading academics and practitioners, Too Little, Too Late reflects the overwhelming consensus among specialists on the need to find workable solutions.

Demonic Sorcery. Brutal battles. Monstrous beasts of war. A dark army is poised to conquer the world, when their greatest warrior betrays them. Rebellion begins, led by a reluctant villain. Tyrus of Kelnor has one of the blackest names in history and leads a great host that destroys dozens of kingdoms across two continents. Old memories haunt him though, from before the slaughter and sorcery, when honor and service had value. To become the most powerful sorcerer of the age, Emperor Azmon Pathros promised a demon freedom. He struggles to control his new empire, and on the day of his greatest victory, conspirators attack his pregnant wife. And it falls to Einin Gamul, a lady at court, to flee with the newborn heir. She must outrun the empire's fiercest warriors and demonic beasts of war, or the child will be sacrificed to an ancient evil, the shedim of the Nine Hells. TODAY IS TOO LATE is a page-turning fantasy that reinvents errant knights and dark sorcerers but also asks serious questions about the seduction of evil and the struggle for redemption.
