It is the spring of 1942 and as Steve Carmichael celebrates graduating from the University of Florida, it is clear to every young man in America that a war is on. Six months have passed since the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and ordinary citizens stand united, ready to fight against the tyranny of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. Steve, who grew up on a cattle ranch in Kissimmee, Florida, had two passions in life: baseball and flying. At the age of 11, his father, Ray, purchased an old mail-route biplane, and within a year, Steve was soaring with the birds. It was an easy decision for Steve to join the Army Air Corps and pursue his desire to pilot the B-17 Flying Fortress.

Every person is unique. At least we believe ourselves to be. Many of us have a heightened sexuality. With the latter group, a common denominator must exist in the pulsating intensity and grinding confusion I have found in the rollercoaster ride which has been my sex life. As a homosexual man who has breathed in more than half of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st Centuries I have experienced some priviliged moments, always with the knowledge of being a man set apart, mostly because I am a Queer. Looking back on my life I recogonize it as a rich tapestry of favourable experiences - my work as a successful hairdresser in the film industry in Toronto with celebrity acquaintances, my family, my friends, my pets, home, music, travel, and my lovers. Well, the lovers don't all fall into the success category but do add colour to the picture. Because of the dark wings of Depression which have hovered over me throughout much of my life, the element of Joy has been elusive in spite of a splendid endowment of entitlement ( or plain old fashioned good luck) - bestowed on me by Fate. My addiction to the pursuit of sexual gratification which has ruled my social patterns and actions since I was a child is all part of the story. Sometimes I think it is my story.

Something is deeply wrong with the field of physics and how it informs our understanding of the natural world. Despite years of effort, the theories of Einstein cannot be reconciled with our current approach to the strange effects we measure at the quantum level. No law of physics can stand alone, and yet the field is splintered into competing theories and disparate observations that work against attempts to unify science in a single theory of everything. Using the fundamental nature of gravity, quantum fluctuations, and energy, Not Just Another Theory reimagines the interaction between all aspects of the physical universe to push towards a unified theory of everything free of the assumptions and gaps currently found in the scientific establishment. Far from rehashing old information, this complete theory of nature starts from the beginning by re-establishing what we know and how we know it to move past contradictory approaches and incompatible theories. It casts the whole universe in a new perspective, from the massive movements of galaxies to the tiny fluctuations of quantum loops. Our understanding of nature will never be the same.

Create a fresh, intentional approach to meetings When meetings draw employees away from day-to-day tasks but fail to reach their intended outcome, it has huge costs to the organization. All too often, this happens because meetings lack purpose—people gather together to discuss a problem but don’t know how to approach it strategically. Consider that the typical leader spends at least 10 hours a week in meetings with an average of five people. Now, assume each of those individuals is priced out at $100 an hour. That’s $5,000 a week in meeting costs. Multiply that $5,000 by 50 weeks, then by the 10 top executives. The cost? $2.5 million. Of course, leaders dread the thought of one more ineffective meeting, as do most other workers. With preparation and intention, you can turn these wasted opportunities into sessions that fully engage participants and teams. In Not Just Another Meeting: Creative Strategies for Facilitation, you will learn how to be intentional about diagnosing what your team requires from a meeting. By expanding your repertoire of what to do and how to do it, you can respond to any situation with calm, certainty, and creativity. Experienced facilitators and consultants Rodney Napier and Eli Sharp describe 13 classic designs, such as the Future Search, Collapsing Consensus, and Genie in the Bottle. Applying to wide-ranging workplace issues, these designs provide the tools to enable any gathering to solve problems, build trust, and deal with conflict. Accompanying them are animated videos, available online, that allow you to observe exactly how to facilitate each design. This book shines a new light on situations you’ve taken for granted for years. Break out of your old meeting habits—and actually excite the participants of meetings you lead.
