DOWNLOAD EBOOKWhat are the secrets of lobbying in China? How do companies influence technology standards in the building energy efficiency industry? More than 250 qualitative interviews with representatives of the industry, academia and the party state were conducted in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou between 2013 and 2015. As a result, the author has analysed business lobbying in four distinctive and exciting case studies and designed a research model to reliably measure lobbying influence and success by assessing the usefulness of lobbying targets, strategies and resources that were chosen by the industry. Therefore, this book closes an important gap in research into lobbying by focusing on influence rather than only on participation. It shows the ingredients for business lobbying but also the key determinants in assessing lobbying success. Some of the study's findings allow conclusions about the influence of business lobbying in similar knowledge-intensive sectors and about the decision-making processes of the Chinese party state.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe author analyzes the relationship between the availability of public childcare for children under age three and the decision to have a first child. One would expect that providing women with the option of returning to work soon after childbirth would reduce the anticipated negative effects of having a child on a woman’s career. However, existing research results on this relationship are inconsistent.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe book represents a major examination regarding the current practice of international relations and world politics. It analyzes the international relations of large, medium, and smaller sized actors, and how they influence the larger dynamics and ebb and flow of the international system. While assessing the perspectives of 21st century international systems, it also examines how relations between actors may improve or worsen, surely the most timely issue presently facing global and relational politics. Through globalization, the concept of a more balanced version of the American Dream has extended worldwide. Irrespective of wealth or poverty, globalization’s promise of prosperity has been adopted eagerly, despite uneven progress along the way. Together with the larger realities of Neo-Liberal thinking and influence, where global and cyber markets have evolved with little supervision, we have seen a move from enlightened self interest to the reality of pure self-interest. This book addresses the larger ethical implications of this global trend.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe New Testament shows the early Church as having both stable institutions and dynamic growth in charismatic ministries. In the twenty-first century, although many historically-determined inessentials have changed, the Church’s structure remains fundamentally the same. This study looks at New Testament ministries (Eph 4:11-12), Baptism in the Holy Spirit, and the history of the gift of tongues from the Acts of the Apostles through to the charismatics of our time, to see how these elements contribute to the fast-paced, global phenomenon we call the “pentecostalization” of modern Christianity. Our research shows that much of what appears to be novel in current ecclesial movements is the fruit of charisms that have been poured out from the beginning. The disciples of Christ are still bringing “out of his treasure what is new and old.”
