The Book of Numbers is a story of identity, wilderness, and God. Numbers continues the historical narrative begun in Exodus, the story of God's people newly freed from Egypt's shackles and wandering toward the promised land. While Numbers accounts for the next 39 years of their wilderness wandering, it's also a story of God's presence among His beloved. Even when they rebelled--and this book tells of many rebellions--God's love and promises remained. It's in that love and those promises the children of Israel found their identity and where we must find ours today. (7 sessions) Features: Leader helps to guide questions and discussions within small groups Personal study segments to complete between 7 weeks of group sessions Interactive teaching videos, approximately 15 minutes per session, for purchase or rent Benefits: Leverage Old Testament truths for your life today. Recognize God's faithfulness in keeping His promises. Discover your identity as His beloved even in seasons of wilderness wandering.

The Exodus theme is one of the most basic in Biblical tradition and it is to be expected that it should appear again and again as the Lord's plan of salvation unfolded. It is possible to trace out this theme as it is reflected in the various writings of Scripture and such an exercise should add greatly to our understanding of the Lord's saving purpose. With the Exodus theology as a background, we may profitably consider two closely related themes. After the Exodus from Egypt there followed the wilderness period, the march through the desert, which also left a deep imprint on Biblical tradition. So after the Exodus there follows a consideration of the wilderness theme. God's chosen agent throughout this period was Moses, who consequently came to occupy a unique place in Biblical tradition. The Moses theme therefore constitutes the third area of study covered in this volume.

In this expository commentary on the book of Exodus, Philip Graham Ryken mines the story of Israel's escape from Egypt for knowledge of God's character and instruction for his followers. Theologically instructive and decidedly pastoral, this commentary leads readers to rejoice at God's work in the life of every person who follows him on the path to spiritual freedom. Ryken skillfully relates how the Israelites' deliverance from slavery anticipated the salvation accomplished in Jesus Christ, proving that God remembers his covenant and always delivers on his promises. For those who preach, teach, and study God's Word, this book is more than just a commentary; it is a celebration of God's faithfulness. The book of Daniel abounds with powerful imagery showcasing God's unmatched glory and wise plan for the future. In this accessible commentary, pastor Rodney Stortz highlights the coming triumph of God's kingdom, offering pastors and Bible teachers a resource to help them explain and apply Daniel's message to Christians today. Stortz's careful exegesis and perceptive applications focus on personal holiness, the wisdom and power of God, and the importance of Daniel's prophecies concerning the Messiah and the Antichrist. In addition, this commentary looks to the New Testament to shed light on Daniel's prophecies about the future. Part of the Preaching the Word series.

FOR DISTRIBUTION OUTSIDE THE USA. In The Land Between, author Jeff Manion uses the biblical story of the Israelite's journey through Sinai desert as a metaphor for being in undesired, transitional space. After enduring generations of slavery in Egypt, the descendants of Jacob travel through the desert (the land between) toward their new home in Canaan. They crave the food of their former home in Egypt and despise their present environment. They are unable to go back and incapable of moving forward. The Land Between explores the way in which their reactions can provide insight and guidance on how to respond to God during our own seasons of difficult transition. The book provides fresh biblical insight for people traveling through undesired transitions (e.g. foreclosure, unemployment, parents in declining health, post-graduate uncertainty, business failure, etc.) who are looking for hope, guidance, and encouragement. While it is possible to move through transitions and learn little, they provide our greatest opportunity for spiritual growth. God desires to meet us in our chaos and emotional upheaval, and he intends for us to encounter his goodness and provision during these upsetting seasons.

The king of Egypt tried to kill him shortly after he was born-just because he was a Hebrew boy. Years later the king tried to kill him again-just because he killed an Egyptian. Okay, that one might have been warranted but either way, it's unusual to be hunted down twice in your life by a king. But that was the life of Moses-hiding, on the run, and living a fugitive's life, wondering if it would ever be safe to go back home and reveal his true identity. And then God hunted him down and told him it was time to return-and return with a vengeance! God told him to go back and rescue the children of Israel from their oppressive bondage and lead them out of Egypt. What was Moses' response? No, thank you. And he said it more than once! But God knew Moses was the right man for the job and did not give up on him. Nor will he give up on us. God has called some of us to be leaders in his kingdom. He has great plans already prepared for us if we will simply answer the call. His promise is the same promise he gave to Moses: "I will be with you." (Exodus 3:12) And as simple as that may sound, that is all we need to know. Spoiler alert: Moses decides to answer God's call. And it turns out to be the ride of his life! And at the end of his life, he gives his successor Joshua this great piece of advice: "It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed." (Deuteronomy 31:8) And that really is all we need to know.
