Excerpt from Minutes of the Seventy-Ninth Annual Session of the Cahaba Baptist Association: Held With Bethlehem Church, Perry County, Alabama, October 13th, and 14th, 1897 The ministerial board of education of Ala. Has done a great deal to improve the ministry of the state. Until the organization of this board many of the churches were supplied with uneducated preachers; while at present every church has a man who has been wholly or partially educated at the Howard or the Seminary at Louisville, Ky. Of course this board does not educate all the the ministerial Students that attend these institutions. The re port on Ministerial Education in the minutes of the State con vention of 1896 showed that there were fourteen young ministers assisted at the Howard and nineteen who payed their own ex pense. There were eighteen at the Seminary. Your Committee has not been able to ascertain the number at either place this session who are expecting assistance from the Board We are very much impressed with the importance Of this part Of our denominational work; but we are sorry indeed to say that it has not received the hearty support its importance demands.
