This is the more simplified version of my very popular Moccasin Slippers with a Cuff. I wanted to design a pattern that was still very minimalistic but didn’t require any special techniques or multiple needles. This is what I came up with. The pattern is knitted on one set of single pointed, size 4 mm (US 6) needles. The pattern itself only involves the knit stitch, k2tog and picking up stitches. Easy peasy! For real. If you are looking to make slippers fast and thick, this is the pattern for you! For this pattern, I’ve designed it so you can use either 2 strands of worsted weight yarn (10 ply or No. 4 yarn) or you can use super bulky yarn (14 ply or No. 6 yarn). The number of stitches and rows per inch is quite low, so they work up very quickly. The pattern is knitted flat on 1 set of 5 mm (US size 8) single pointed needles. This pattern is written to fit nearly all child sized feet. This particular pattern will fit a foot that is 4 inches (10 cm) up to 8 3/4 inches (22 cm) in length. That is a toddler size 1 up to a nearly adult size 5, in US sizing. Please note, this isn’t a pattern for beginners, but if you know how to knit a stitch, pick up stitches and knit two stitches together, you should be okay. Make your own conversation piece when you knit this funky and original monster purse. Think a monster purse is a “bit much”? The pattern uses worsted weight yarn and size 5 mm (size 8 US) single pointed knitting needles. It’s knit flat and you can either use self-striping yarn or use different shades of yarn to make this toque. I indicate where to change the colours of yarn in the pattern so there isn’t any confusion. But please note, you can knit the beanie in one solid colour also. There’s no reason why you can’t. This tuque is in adult sizes only! It is NOT knit in the traditional way by casting on stitches to go around your head. It’s knit from the side. Each row runs from the forehead to the top up to the crown of the head or to the pom pom. This is what makes the stripes vertical instead of the usual horizontal ones on all the other winter hats out there.
