The contents of this book were taken from a larger, previous publication by John Macort entitled "A Seeker's Theology," "Christianity Reinterpreted as Mysticism." Having been raised an Episcopalian with strong Quaker influences from family and a Quaker school and college, the author served as an Episcopal priest for four decades. He also taught religion, theology, and philosophy at a Roman Catholic university and other colleges. After his retirement, he returned to his Liberal Quaker roots. He renounced Trinitarian doctrines, creeds and beliefs. Now a panentheist, he bases is faith on mystical experiences. He calls himself a rebellious Episcopalian, a unitarian, universalist, Liberal Quaker, seeker. In other words, a Christian heretic. As a non-theist, he contends that God is not a divine person or supreme being off in the heavens. Panentheism expresses God as being in every aspect of existence. Quakers believe that there is that of God in every person. The author experiences God as the impersonal energy that makes every thing that exists what it is. God is the source of all energy and love. How then, does one pray to impersonal, divine Spirit or Energy? Through mystical meditation, everyone can receive inspiration and direct revelations from God. When we transmit or send our divine energy from within ourselves directly to other persons, that is prayer.

Communion with God, or in full, "Of communion with God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost each person distinctly, in love, grace, and consolation; or, the saints' fellowship with the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost unfolded," is John Owen's finest devotional treatise. This work expounds "the most glorious truth that believers may have distinct communion with the three persons Father, Son, and Spirit," and being addressed to the "Christian reader" is simpler than much of Owen's theology. (Unabridged. Includes all footnotes.)

Pioneered by spiritual master Eknath Easwaran, passage meditation consists of memorizing an inspirational spiritual passage and then sending it deep into consciousness through slow, sustained attention. It keeps meditation fresh and varied because readers can select the passages - from one tradition or many - that embody their chosen ideals. Many readers also enjoy the passages for their poetic and intellectual appeal. This form of meditation offers all the richness and depth of traditional wisdom, together with a practical method for bringing that wisdom into daily life. The book situates passage meditation as part of Easwaran's eight-point program that, based on traditional spiritual practices but adjusted for modern lifestyles, shows readers how to stay calm and focused at work and home. This edition includes a new preface of previously unpublished material by Easwaran and an epilogue that explains the story behind the book and invites new readers to join the author on this adventure in the ''world within.''
