José Martín Félix de Arrate Acosta; nació en la Habana en 1701, fue historiador y político. Vinculado por lazos de consanguinidad a las más prestigiosas familias de la oligarquía habanera de la etapa. Se le considera como el primer historiador de Cuba por muchos ilustrados cubanos.
