We have incorporated all the suggestions, modified it to make it easier, student friendly and relevant in terms of achieving curriculum outcome. This manual is prepared as per PCI Education Regulations, 2020 for Diploma Course in Pharmacy. Each experiment is arranged sequentially such as aim, practical significance, relevant professional competencies, relevant course outcomes, competencies and skills, practical outcomes, relevant affective domain related outcomes, minimum theoretical background, requirements, contents, related questions and assessment scheme. This manual is a sincere effort to improve the practical skills of students so that every student will understand the objective of each experiment and perform their practical’s easily. Theory of each experiment is given in all twenty-eight experiments making the manual more interesting. The manual also focuses on the extra features in morphological characters of certain crude drugs that will be helpful in identifying various varieties of crude drugs. Pharm course regulations 2014 and is divided into four sections i.e detection of crude drugs with morphology, histology, powder characteristics; isolation and detection of phyto constituents; isolation of phyto constituents by chromatography techniques; analysis of crude drugs by chemical tests. The traditional as well as modern methods used for identification of crude drugs, isolation methods of phyto constituents and their detection of all the experiments are included in this manual. This manual is designed for 'outcome-based education' and each experiment is arranged in a uniform way such as practical significance, practical outcomes (PrOs) and its mapping with courseoutcomes, theory, resources used, procedure, precautions, observations, result, conclusion, references, and synopsis questions. Each experiment offers an opportunity to perform practical work, allowing students to gain proficiency in effectively managing equipment, handling glassware, chemicals and staining agents/ reagents, and writing conclusion. In addition, questions are provided at the end of the experiments to enhance students' knowledge, which will be beneficial for them as they pursue higher studies. A Manual of Paper Chromatography and Paper Electrophoresis provides a comprehensive discussion of the techniques of paper chromatography and paper electrophoresis. The book is organized into two parts. Part I on paper chromatography provides a readily accessible source for some of the many uses and adaptations of paper chromatography. An effort has been made to write a practical manual in which tried and proved procedures, employing relatively simple equipment and available reagents, are summarized. Part II on paper electrophoresis discusses basic principles and methodology. The emphasis throughout has been on the separation of protein mixtures, particularly blood serum. This reflects the fact that it is in this particular application that paper electrophoresis has thus far not been challenged by paper chromatography, whereas many of the smaller molecules can be resolved equally well or better by the thus far more widely employed chromatographic procedures.
