He died on 29 November 1866 in New Hamburg, Scott, Missouri. He married Catherine Kettel on 3 March 1835 in Canton, Stark, Ohio. Catherine, daughter of Peter Kettel and Mari Francoise "Frances" Biloque, was born on 23 July 1819 in Habergy, Luxembourg, Belgium. She died on 6 February 1899 in Cape Girardeau, Cape Girardeau, Missouri. They had nine children. Ancestors and descendants have resided in Belgium, Ohio, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Texas and elsewhere.
