Frederick George Mauk (1827-1916) was the son of Frederick and Eve Mauk, and the grandson of Michael (d.1830) and Barbary (Barbara?) Mauk. There is "... no record where the Mauks emigrated from, but was told from Germany." (p. [1]). Frederick and Eve homesteaded in land that is now Rio, West Virginia. Frederick George married Sarah Wilson, settled in Illinois, later returning to Rio, West Virginia. Descen- dants and relatives lived in West Virginia, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, Maryland and elsewhere.

The first Reiff families were found in Franconia districts of eastern Pennsylvania. They later spread to Lancaster, Lebanon, York and Cumberland. They later moved to Maryland, Ontario, Canada, Virginia and on to Ohio and West. Abraham Reiff married Barbara Groff. He was the son of a deacon also named Abraham. Abraham died in 1763. He and Barbara had eleven children.
