DOWNLOAD EBOOKExcerpt from Investigation of the Effect of Heat Upon, the Crushing Strength and Elastic, Properties of Concrete The concretes used have included trap, limestone and cinder, and were usually 1-2-4 or 1-2 5 mixtures. The reports of numer ous tests of this character were examined and in most instances the concrete stood the heat and subsequent loading well, but the results were general and referred to the quality or resistance of a particular construction rather than to specific data regarding the concrete itself. Large numbers of tests of compressive strength and elastic properties have been made upon concrete of various composition and after different preliminary treatments, but no records were found in which the concrete was heated prior to testing.
