He is known to a wide range of people as an interpreter of the New Testament scripture . About the day and even the year of birth of Theophylact of Bulgaria, we can not say with certainty. According to various evidence and estimates, very approximate, his date of birth is determined by the period from 1050 to 1060. The future bishop Feofilakt was born on the island of Euboea, probably in the city of Chalkis. From the historical information that has come down to us, it is known that he had the surname Ifest. Apparently, he received a good education in his youth. He studied at Constantinople, the country's greatest cultural, political and educational center. It is believed that one of the teachers who greatly influenced the formation of the worldview of Theophylact as a theologian was a famous thinker, Mikhail Psell . “Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.” Look: no one is justified without labor and sorrow. Therefore, the gates leading to the Kingdom of Heaven, and the Lord called narrow and tight (see Matt. 7, 13 ), that is, full of oppression. But not everyone who encounters tightness or sorrow, but sorrow because of faith in God, introduces into the Kingdom of Heaven.
