This book sheds light on the improvements and downfalls over time in two of the five indicators of refugee integration after the post-Arab Spring migration/refugee crisis, namely education and employment. Within the context of the need for a common policy response in the field of migration governance, it includes case studies from first-line immigration countries of the Mediterranean region. The book also reflects on the situation in Central Europe, Scandinavia, and Africa and considers the perspectives of different actors, including migration and integration governance stakeholders, NGOs, governments, refugees, and others. The 10th Migration Conference, TMC 2022 was hosted by the Faculty of Law, Economic and Social Sciences Agdal of Mohammad V University, Rabat, Morocco and organised by AMERM (l’Association Marocaine d’Etudes et de Recherches sur les Migrations) and IBS (International Business School, UK. The TMC 2022 Rabat was the first time such a major conference on migration held in Africa. The Conference accommodated discussions involving ministers, politicians, practitioners, lawyers, academics, media, experts, young researchers and students, practitioners and wider public. This conference was the first in person event in the series after two years of COVID-induced virtual conferences.
Migration has been at the centre of policy debates across the OECD in recent years, largely because of the refugee crisis. This synthesis report identifies eight pillars of policy-making that the Strength through Diversity project has revealed to be crucial in order for education systems to effectively support newcomers.
This handbook provides an overview of developments in the youth mobility and migration research field, with specific emphasis on movement for education, work and training purposes, encompassing exchanges sponsored by institutions, governments and international agencies, and free movement. The collection features over 30 theoretically and empirically-based discussions of the meaning and key aspects of various forms of mobility as practiced in contemporary societies, and concludes with an exploration of the costs and benefits of moving abroad to individuals and societies at a time when the viability of free circulation is being called into question. The geographical scope of the book covers Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas, and takes into account socio-economic and regional inequalities, as well as recent developments such as the refugee crisis, Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic.
